‘Pastor, I have been looking for a church to belong to and when my children brought me this book, I read it and was sure that this is the church I have been looking for’. These words were spoken by brother Paul a couple of years ago. He was referring to the little booklet we give out to new converts - My New Life in Christ. A few weeks later brother Paul gave his life to the Lord Jesus and remained consistent in his attendance of church.

One day I called on a men’s meeting to help the men have fellowship with one another and map out strategies of how they can reach other men for the Lord Jesus. In one of these meetings, held at KFC Kagiso, brother Paul was chosen as the chairperson of the men’s ministry. The key focus of every ministry department in our church is outreach. Brother Paul was in the forefront of inviting other men to church. One of his close friends was so difficult to get to church that brother Paul had to use a scare tactic to get him there. Pastor Ireen had just given him the ammunition for this in one of her sermons from Psalm 1. So brother Paul went and told his friend that if he does not come with him to church, that would be the end of their friendship because he was not prepared to walk in the counsel of the ungodly. The threat worked and this friend finally can to church and gave his life to the Lord Jesus.

One day I asked brother Paul to join me for lunch at Spur and he drove all the way from Swaneville to Westgate. We had a great time of fellowship where we got to know a little bit more about each other. The bond started to grow stronger and brother Paul became our property painter.

One day he came to church with slippers and I asked him what the problem was. He told me that he had a particular medical challenge that he was dealing with. As our habit is, we started to pray for his healing. Brother Paul was however not getting better. He would go into hospital and stay there for a couple of days and then come back again only to go back after a couple of months.

We had created a prayer chain among the intercessors and prayed for brother Paul every day. We asked God for healing mercies. We prayed and fasted and believed that brother Paul would make it.

Last week Saturday, I got the message that every pastor dreads- brother Paul had gone home to be with the Lord. In the week he passed, I went to see him on a Wednesday. I found that he had not eaten, he was weak and was not talking. I asked someone to help me get him into a sitting position so that I could feed him. He ate some yogurt and a shake but I could see that brother Paul’s energy was depleted. I left the hospital with so many questions in my mind. Three days later, on Saturday, I got the news I did not want to hear.

I went to the funeral house the same day, broken. I got there and everyone was waiting for a word of encouragement from the pastor. I felt that I also needed someone else to encourage me. I spoke a few words but asked one of my colleagues from the Pastor’s Forum to be the main speaker (he also agreed to handle the whole funeral).

Today we laid the body of brother Paul to rest. I am grateful to the Lord for Pastor Joseph who was on hand to help me when I could not step forward. The Swaneville Resident Pastor for our church was also excellent.

May the Lord continue to comfort brother Paul’s family.

Our primary concern in this life.

“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭6‬:‭33‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

We understand from yesterday’s teaching that worry, anxiety and stress do not make life any better but rather are joy thieves.

If you must not be anxious about your day to day needs, how then would your supplies be made available?

The Lord Jesus gives us a formula for obtaining everything we need - start with making the interests of the kingdom of God priority in your life. Your pursuit must be to know God, serve God and do what He requires of you.

It is in this pursuit of God that goodness and mercy start to follow you.

When your heart is sold out to serve God, He will start to show you riches in secret places. God will give you a head start in matters that may take years for others to achieve. He will short circuit your path to the throne and cause you to be ruler even when you have little or no experience.

Our father in the Lord Bishop Oyedepo says ‘Matthew 6:33 is the jackpot of life’. And he is right when a man or woman make serving God and the interests of His kingdom a priority, they become high flyers in life without sweat. You can serve God while you are a career person, layman, student or whatever stage you are in.

Have a blessed day

Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father. And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask anything in My name, I will do it.
(John 14:12-14)

God always says what He means and He means what He says. Some people have tried to downplay this power statement by saying the greater works here is getting someone born again. But this cannot be so - new birth cannot be imparted by us. The Holy Spirit is the One who transforms men. We are called to do greater works than the Lord Jesus did.

This is doable by ‘’He who believes." What a word! When we believe God’s Word, changes us to be like Him and we enter into fellowship and communion with His. We enter into assurance and Godlikeness when we see the truth and believe that God says what He means and He means what He says. Faith begin to rise in us. Faith is an effective powerful force that makes tremendous power available to do what Jesus did.

The Lord Jesus drew the hearts of the people to Himself. They came to Him with all of their needs, and He relieved them all. He talked to men, healed the sick, relieved the oppressed, and cast out demons. "He who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also" (John 14:12).

"He who believes in Me"-the essence of divine life is in us by faith. To the one who believes, it will come to pass. When we believe, we become supernatural by the power of God. If you believe, the power of the Satan cannot stand, for God's Word is against him. Jesus gives us His Word to make faith effective. If you can believe in your heart, you begin to speak whatever you desire, and whatever you dare to say is done. You will have whatever you say after you believe in your heart. (See Mark 11:23-24.)

Dare to believe, and then dare to speak, for you will have whatever you say if you do not doubt.

The Enemy will bring thoughts of fear and defeat in your mind. Do not verbalize them. Your response to the thoughts of fear and defeat must be bold declarations that: ‘it is written: I am the head and not the tail; everything is possible to him who believes; I believe God that He is able to handle that situation also; I have prayed and God has answered; I am healed by the stripes of Jesus Christ; my loved one is healed by the stripes of Jesus Christ; my children are well according to the word of God …..’

You are on the winning side.

My passion to obey the command of the Lord Jesus, to all His children, to go out and preach the Gospel is what keeps me going to do just that.

Today the Holy Spirit was telling me that in this business, I must always ensure that my license to operate is valid. God is the Giver of this license. God only grants this honour to vessels that are separated to Him. When a man's ways are please to the Lord, God announces such a man to people and devils - 'this is My son.' When God announces you as such, devils will say - 'Charles we know' - and they will give way.

I may have a following and a building to preach from but if my license to operate as a minister of the Gospel is revoked, I will labour in futility - Help me, Lord Jesus - that will not be my portion in the Name of the Lord Jesus.

2Ti 2:20-24
(20) Now in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and silver but also of wood and clay, some for honorable use, some for dishonorable.
(21) Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable, he will be a vessel for honorable use, set apart as holy, useful to the master of the house, ready for every good work.
(22) So flee youthful passions and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, along with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart.
(23) Have nothing to do with foolish, ignorant controversies; you know that they breed quarrels.
(24) And the Lord's servant must not be quarrelsome but kind to everyone, able to teach, patiently enduring evil,
