Happy Easter! He is Risen! Jesus Christ is Risen!
While the world is scurrying around gathering Easter Eggs, lighting the braai fire, languishing on the beach, relaxing away from work, what does this mean to us:
It meant the kingdom of Christ was established.
Rom 1:4-6 "..and who through the Spirit of holiness was declared with power to be the Son of God by his resurrection from the dead: Jesus Christ our Lord. 5 Through him and for his name's sake, we received grace and apostleship to call people from among all the Gentiles to the obedience that comes from faith. 6 And you also are among those who are called to belong to Jesus Christ."
It meant His sacrifice was accepted,
Hebrews 9:26 "Then Christ would have had to suffer many times since the creation of the world. But now he has appeared once for all at the end of the ages to do away with sin by the sacrifice of himself."
Hebrews 10:12 "But when this priest had offered for all time one sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God.
Hebrews 9:12 He did not enter by means of the blood of goats and calves; but he entered the Most Holy Place once for all by his own blood, having obtained eternal redemption."
Romans 4:25 "He was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our justification."
It meant that death had lost it’s sting,
1 Cor 15:20 "But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the first fruits of those who have fallen asleep."
1 Cor 15:22 "For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive."
1 Cor 15:55-57""Death has been swallowed up in victory." 55 "Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?" 56 The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. 57 But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ."
It meant that we serve a living Christ,
Phil 3:10 "I want to know Christ and the power of his resurrection and the fellowship of sharing in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, We can know the power of His resurrection."
The same power that raised Jesus from the dead is available to enable us to live the Christian life.
Rom 8:11 "And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit, who lives in you."
2 Peter 1:4 "Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature and escape the corruption in the world caused by evil desires."
The resurrection of Jesus Christ is the heart of Christianity. Without it we would be of all the creatures, the most pitiful.
1 Cor 15:17-19 "And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins. 18 Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ are lost. 19 If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are to be pitied more than all men."
