The Christmas season isn't just a commercial holiday, Christmas is wrapped up in the Lord Jesus Christ, and so the only way to truly enjoy Christmas is to learn what it represents in Christ Jesus. The hope of Christmas is found in the hope provided by Christ. The peace of Christmas is found in the peace won by the Lord. The comfort of Christmas is found in the promises provided by our unfaltering and faithful Lord Jesus Christ. Everything that makes Christmas worth celebrating is wrapped up in the child called Immanuel.
Without Jesus in this season, the season looses all of its meaning. It becomes a stressful season of trying to please others, through buying gifts and the fear is that no matter what you do, you will not please those you care enough to buy for. For others the losses of the year might add a sense of loneliness and despondency to this "Happy Holiday".
As for me, I’d much rather humble myself before Him today and know the wonder of His complete forgiveness, the strength of His supernatural protection, the purpose of His all-knowing wisdom, and the hope of His unfailing promises. This Christ child came for these reasons. Will you hear and respond to the amazing grace and unfailing love of God? Will you have a truly Christ filled Christmas? Can you have a Happy Christmas? You can, in Christ Jesus!

Happy Easter! He is Risen! Jesus Christ is Risen!
While the world is scurrying around gathering Easter Eggs, lighting the braai fire, languishing on the beach, relaxing away from work, what does this mean to us:
It meant the kingdom of Christ was established.
Rom 1:4-6 "..and who through the Spirit of holiness was declared with power to be the Son of God by his resurrection from the dead: Jesus Christ our Lord. 5 Through him and for his name's sake, we received grace and apostleship to call people from among all the Gentiles to the obedience that comes from faith. 6 And you also are among those who are called to belong to Jesus Christ."
It meant His sacrifice was accepted,
Hebrews 9:26 "Then Christ would have had to suffer many times since the creation of the world. But now he has appeared once for all at the end of the ages to do away with sin by the sacrifice of himself."
Hebrews 10:12 "But when this priest had offered for all time one sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God.
Hebrews 9:12 He did not enter by means of the blood of goats and calves; but he entered the Most Holy Place once for all by his own blood, having obtained eternal redemption."
Romans 4:25 "He was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our justification."
It meant that death had lost it’s sting,
1 Cor 15:20 "But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the first fruits of those who have fallen asleep."
1 Cor 15:22 "For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive."
1 Cor 15:55-57""Death has been swallowed up in victory." 55 "Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?" 56 The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. 57 But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ."
It meant that we serve a living Christ,
Phil 3:10 "I want to know Christ and the power of his resurrection and the fellowship of sharing in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, We can know the power of His resurrection."
The same power that raised Jesus from the dead is available to enable us to live the Christian life.
Rom 8:11 "And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit, who lives in you."
2 Peter 1:4 "Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature and escape the corruption in the world caused by evil desires."
The resurrection of Jesus Christ is the heart of Christianity. Without it we would be of all the creatures, the most pitiful.
1 Cor 15:17-19 "And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins. 18 Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ are lost. 19 If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are to be pitied more than all men."

God is gracious and it confounds the mind that He should save but He does! Whist Hell is reasonable and deserving, Heaven is totally undeserving, but people are saved, nevertheless, by the mercy and grace of God! Are we standing guard at the foot of the cross, by our apathy, pride and exclusivity, indeed, hampering the harvest? We fend and we parry through our disobedience, our attitudes, perhaps even our intellect! Oh, Christian, fall to your knees and repent, for there is much work to be done, as the Day draws near!

May we be as balanced in the Lord as what the Bible is.

"Blessed Lord, let me climb up near to you, and love, and long, and plead, and wrestle with you, and pant for deliverance from the body of sin, for my heart is wandering and lifeless, and my soul mourns to think it should ever lose sight of its Beloved. Wrap my life in divine love, and keep me ever desiring you, always humble and resigned to your will, more fixed on you, that I may be more fitted for doing and suffering." Valley of Vision p230-231

27/05/2020

All-Sufficient King, ...You have been mindful of me and visited me, taken charge of me from birth, cared in all conditions for me, fed me at your table, drawn the curtains of love around me, given me new mercies every morning. ...May your goodness always lead me to repentance, and your longsuffering prove my salvation." Valley of Vision p210-211

26/05/2020

"Blessed God, ...May I remember the dignity of my spiritual release, never be to busy to attend to my soul, never be so engrossed with time that I neglect things of eternity; thus may I not only live, but grow toward you. ...Draw on my soul the lineaments of Christ, in every trace and feature of which you shall take delight, for I am your workmanship, created in Christ Jesus, your letter written with the Holy Spirit's pen, your tilled soil ready for the sowing, then harvest." Valley of Vision p108-109

25/05/2020

"Maker and Sustainer of all things, ...Let me never undervalue or neglect any part of your revealed will. May I duly regard the doctrine and practice of the gospel, prizing its commands as well as its promises. ...so may I be content, be a glory to you and an example to others." Valley of Vision p254-255

23/05/2020

"O Sovereign Lord, ...O God, I cannot endure to see the destruction of my family. Let those that are united to me in tender ties be precious in your sight and devotion, to your glory. Sanctify and prosper my domestic devotion, instruction, discipline, example, that my house may be a nursery for heaven, my church the garden of the Lord, enriched with trees of righteousness of your planting, for your glory; Let not those of my family who are amiable, moral, attractive, fall short of heaven at last; Grant that the promising appearances of a tender conscience, soft heart, the alarms and delights of your Word, be not finally blotted out, but bring forth judgment toward victory in all whom I love." Valley of Vision p208-209

22/05/2020

"O Saviour of sinners, ...I bless you for the discoveries, invitations, promises of the gospel for in them is pardon for rebels, liberty for captives, health for the sick, salvation for the lost. I come to you in your beloved name of Jesus; re-impress your image upon my soul; Raise me above the smiles and frowns of the world, regarding it as a light thing to be judged by men; May your approval be my only aim, your Word my one rule." Valley of Vision p104-105
