Called to bear witness

Sunday, 17 May 2026, our congregation was blessed to have a visiting Rector and Priest from Rocklands congregation. The Rector, Priest Randall Adam's conducted the Sunday divine service and Priest Lesley Tompson was called to serve alongside.

Text: Acts1:8
"But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth"

Message:
Let us bear witness to Jesus Christ.

Summary:
- The power of the Holy Spirit is divine empowerment that transforms fearful disciples into enthusiastic missionaries.

- The calling of the disciples to bear witness to Jesus remains valid for all generations. It is based on an encounter with Jesus and is expressed in words and deeds.

Thursday 14th May Ascension Day conducted by our Rector Lucian Braaff.

Message: It is through christ that we attain eternal fellowship with God .

Rector Lucian Braff reminded us once again and made the congregation aware that these events had to take place in the life of christ for us on earth to have these special encounters at God's altar

- We are children of God ,who have been send into the world to serve chist and be witness to him .
- we follow he's example and resolutely renounce evil
- with he's help, we will remain masters of our destiny and reach our Goal .

Remaining focused

On Sunday, 10 May 2026, the Rector Lucian Braaf Joseph conducted the Sunday divine service and Priest Brendynn Aloile was called to serve alongside.

Text: Philippians 3:13–14
"Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus"

Message:
Let us remain focused on the goal of faith.

Summary:
- Let us remain focused on the goal of our faith.

- We must run the race with faithfulness and endurance.

- The goal of eternal life is founded on the hope we have been given through the resurrection of Jesus.

- Let us commit to completing the race.

During the divine service our Rector bestowed a very special blessing on Priest Stephen and Sister Shireen Joseph on the occasion of their 25th wedding anniversary.

The Rector also thanked sister Patricia van der Muelen for all the work she did in the congregation as she is leaving and lastly the Rector wished all the mothers a blessed mother's day.

Young People Hike 2026

On Friday 1 May 2026, The young people started their morning with a quick breakfast at church shortly after departing to Newlands Forest where they hiked, laughed and enjoyed the fellowship amongst each other. Despite the cold and wet weather, lunch was served at Wynberg Park and the rest of afternoon was spent sitting around and playing games before returning home.

Being a light.

On Sunday 19 April 2026, the Priest Stephen Joseph conducted the Sunday divine service and Priest Clifford Alexander was called to serve alongside.

Text: Luke 8:16
"No one, when he has lit a lamp, covers it with a vessel or puts it under a bed, but sets it on a lampstand, that those who enter may see the light."

Message:
Let us be a light in the world.

Summary:
- Light is an image for the presence, truth, and saving power of God.

- Jesus is the light of the world who wants to enlighten us.

- This light must not be hidden. By following Christ, we bear witness to the light.

- In the new creation, Jesus will be the light that no one will ever be able to extinguish.

Today 5th April 2026 in Portland2 Congregation our Easter Sunday divine service. Our Rector Lucian Braaff conducted the divine service and called Pr Brendon Aloile to serve .

- Brother Angelo Isaacs had the privilege to do the Bible reading for today's special divine service
- Message
- The Resurrection is and will remain central to our Faith

- Rector Lucian Braaff encourage the congregation that we should always focus on the sincere sacrifice of Jesus and that it should always streghten us in our spiritual walk of life .
