“It is finished.”

Three words that changed everything.

We often hear these words on Good Friday, but their significance goes far beyond one day on the calendar.

When Jesus declared Tetelestai on the cross, He was announcing that the work He came to accomplish was complete. He had fulfilled the Scriptures concerning His sacrifice, and through Him, the way to the Father was opened.

What a beautiful truth to live with!

The work of the cross is finished. We do not have to earn our way into the Father’s presence. Through Jesus, we have full access to Him.

Not just on Good Friday. Every single day.

As we get closer and closer to celebrating our first year, we’ve been looking back at some of the special moments we’ve shared as a church.

Our prayer has always been that every conversation, every meal and every gathering would draw people closer to Jesus — and that we would keep growing as disciples who make disciples.

What a year it has been. We’re grateful for every person, every moment and all that God has done among us.

There truly is no other more intentional, consistent, considerate, powerful, creative and thoughtful God than our Lord God almighty!

May we all grasp the administration of this mystery, that now through the church the manifold wisdom of God is being made known!

Church looked a little different this past Sunday.

We sat around tables.
We broke bread.
We worshipped.
And then we spent time looking back at some of the key teachings, Scriptures and themes we have worked through as a church this year.

We created space to ask: 𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘥𝘪𝘥 𝘸𝘦 𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘯? 𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘥𝘰𝘦𝘴 𝘪𝘵 𝘮𝘦𝘢𝘯? 𝘈𝘯𝘥 𝘩𝘰𝘸 𝘥𝘰𝘦𝘴 𝘪𝘵 𝘤𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘸𝘢𝘺 𝘸𝘦 𝘭𝘪𝘷𝘦?

One of the things we are learning as a church is that sometimes you have to help people unlearn before they can learn.

There are so many voices speaking into our lives as humans right now, so part of discipleship is teaching people how to understand the Word for themselves, so that they can recognise the voice of God and grow in their own relationship with Him.

Perhaps our biggest learning this year has been this: living in an urban area surrounded by churches does not necessarily mean that people have a clear understanding of who God is.

That has made us even more intentional about what we teach, how we teach it, and creating room for questions, conversation and understanding.

We want what we learn together to take root in our own lives, and to equip us to share Jesus with others.

That’s the why behind The Connect Table.

Six days to go until our 1st Year Celebration!🎉

As we count down, we’re looking back at some of the apostolic friends who have shared our Sundays with us over the past year.

We have been deeply grateful for those who have made time to come and teach, encourage, pray and strengthen One King Church.

Each of these flyers represents a Sunday, a message and a person God used in a particular season of our first year.

One of the gifts of this journey has been knowing that we have not had to walk it alone. We have been surrounded by people who have generously shared their wisdom, experience and love for the church with us.

To every person who has visited, preached, prayed with us and encouraged us along the way — thank you. You have been part of our story.
