Sunday Service - THEME: "Occupy Till I Come" – A Call to Faithful Stewardship
Jesus told the Parable of the Ten Pounds (Luke 19:11–27) to teach His followers that they should not passively wait for His return but faithfully serve Him until He comes again. The command, "Occupy till I come," means to actively do the King's business by using everything God has entrusted to us for His glory and the advancement of His kingdom.
What does "Occupy" mean?
It means to:
Do business for God's kingdom.
Invest and multiply what God has entrusted to you.
Be productive and faithful while waiting for Christ's return.
Live with purpose rather than fear or complacency.
How do we occupy?
We faithfully steward:
Our gifts and talents by serving God with excellence.
Our relationships by sharing the Gospel, discipling others, and showing Christ's love.
Our finances and resources by giving generously and using them wisely.
Our daily lives through integrity, prayer, Bible study, and obedience.
Our witness by standing firm for Christ, even in a hostile world.
Believers are called to be salt and light, engaging society with God's truth rather than withdrawing from it or becoming consumed with predicting the end times.
Accountability at Christ's Return
When Jesus returns, every believer will give an account of how they managed what He entrusted to them.
The parable teaches that:
Faithful servants are rewarded with greater responsibility and joy.
The servant who hid his mina out of fear was rebuked and lost what he had.
God measures faithfulness, not worldly success or comparison with others.
The key questions will be:
Did you faithfully use what I gave you?
Did you invest your life in My kingdom?
Or did fear, excuses, or complacency keep you from serving Me?
Man's Purpose
Ecclesiastes concludes that humanity's purpose is:
Fear God.
Keep His commandments.
Life finds its true meaning when lived in faithful obedience and stewardship under God's rule.
Practical Challenge
Identify the gifts, time, resources, and opportunities God has entrusted to you.
Ask where you may be "burying your mina" through fear, distraction, or laziness.
Commit to taking one practical step this week to serve God's kingdom more faithfully.
Pray for wisdom and courage to faithfully occupy until Christ returns.
Main Message
Christ is coming again. Until then, believers are called to live with urgency, faithfulness, and purpose—using every gift, opportunity, and resource God has given them to glorify Him and advance His kingdom. The goal is to one day hear the words:
"Well done, good and faithful servant."
