Seven Days of Prayer – Our Lady of Sorrows
Day 3: The Loss of Jesus in the Temple

On this third day, the Diocese of Kokstad continues our prayerful preparation for the Maria Telgte Pilgrimage (12–13 September 2026) as we reflect on the Third Sorrow of Our Lady: The Loss of Jesus in the Temple.

Mary and Joseph experienced the deep anguish of losing Jesus and spent three days searching for Him. Their sorrow reminds us of the pain that comes when we feel distant from Christ.

Today we pray for the grace never to lose Jesus through sin and for the strength to seek Him again whenever we have wandered away.
May Mary, Our Lady of Sorrows, guide us always closer to her Son and accompany us throughout our pilgrimage of faith.

The Diocese of Kokstad warmly invites all the faithful to join the Maria Telgte Pilgrimage, taking place from 12–13 September 2026.

Come and journey together with Mary, Our Lady of Sorrows, in a time of prayer, reflection, fellowship and renewed faith. Let us place our hopes, joys, struggles and intentions before the Lord through the loving intercession of Mary.

Seven Days of Prayer – Our Lady of Sorrows.
Day 2: The Flight into Egypt

Today, the Diocese of Kokstad continues our seven days of prayer in preparation for the Maria Telgte Pilgrimage, 12–13 September 2026.

On this second day, we reflect on the Flight of the Holy Family into Egypt (Matthew 2:13–15).

We contemplate the anxiety and uncertainty experienced by Mary and Joseph as they fled with the infant Jesus to protect Him from King Herod. In their courage, trust and generosity, we are reminded to place our lives and families in God's hands.

Prayer Intention: Let us pray for the virtue of generosity, that we may be willing to give of ourselves, especially to those who are vulnerable, afraid or in need.

Our Lady of Sorrows, accompany us in our journey of faith. Teach us, like you, to trust God even in moments of uncertainty and suffering. Intercede for all pilgrims preparing for Maria Telgte, that we may journey together in faith, hope and love. Amen.

Seven Days of Prayer – Our Lady of Sorrows

Join the Diocese of Kokstad in spiritual preparation for the Maria Telgte Pilgrimage, taking place on 12–13 September 2026.

For the seven days leading up to the pilgrimage, we will journey together in prayer and reflection on the Seven Sorrows of Our Lady, entrusting our pilgrims, families, parishes and the Diocese to the maternal intercession of Mary, Our Lady of Sorrows.

Each day, we will reflect on one of the Seven Sorrows of Mary and pray for peace, faith, humility and a safe pilgrimage.

Let us prepare our hearts in prayer as we journey towards Maria Telgte.

BISHOP MBUYISA VISITS MARIALINDEN PARISH

His Excellency Bishop Thulani Victor Mbuyisa CMM is at Marialinden Parish for the celebration of the Sacrament of Confirmation.

The Bishop is visiting the parish as part of his official pastoral visit in his capacity as the Apostolic Administrator of the Diocese of Mthatha.

Earlier today, Bishop Mbuyisa travelled through muddy and dusty roads to reach the parish, where he was received with great joy, warmth and gratitude by the parish community.

The parish is under the pastoral care of Fr Atupele, who, together with the faithful, welcomed His Excellency with open hearts.

We pray for the candidates receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation tomorrow. May the Holy Spirit strengthen and guide them as they grow in faith and become faithful witnesses of Christ.

BISHOP MBUYISA CONSECRATES ST JOSEPH CHURCH IN HILLSIDE, KWAMZONGWANA

His Excellency Bishop Thulani Victor Mbuyisa CMM, Bishop of Kokstad, presided over the solemn consecration of St Joseph Church in the Hillside area of KwaMzongwana under the St Xavier Parish.

The celebration marked a significant milestone in the life of the Catholic community, as the faithful gathered in thanksgiving and prayer to dedicate their place of worship to God under the patronage of St Joseph.

We congratulate the parish community of St Xavier KwaMzongwana and all those who contributed to the establishment and development of this sacred place.

May St Joseph, continue to intercede for the community and inspire all the faithful to live lives of faith, service and love.
