๐งถโค๏ธ Knitting Hope Into Our Community โค๏ธ๐งธ
Yesterday, the knitters gathered once again at the Knysna Methodist Church. This wonderful group of women is quietly changing lives across our community through sheer compassion.
What started with Lesley Roberts after enjoying a knitting gathering at the Knysna Oyster Festival has grown into a beautiful monthly fellowship group held every third Monday at the church. Later, Wendy du Toit helped establish the WhatsApp group that still keeps everyone connected, encouraged, and inspired today.
The group has now grown to 18 members and is continuing to expand.
These incredible women knit far more than blankets. Lots of teddies of all sizes, little dolls, jerseys, and tiny vests for premature babies have been lovingly handmade and donated to those who need them most. Recipients include babies with no clothes, vulnerable mothers, blanket angels, r**e survivors, children, the infirm, and families facing hardship.
Every single item is prayerfully and thoughtfully given where it can bring the greatest comfort, warmth, and dignity.
One project has been the โyear blanketโ โ knitting a stitch and a row for every single day of the year. Some members are still lovingly working on theirs!
Beyond the knitting itself, there is friendship, laughter, encouragement, and true community spirit shared every time they meet. Yesterday's gathering included Joyce, Denise, Pat, Barbara, Pam, and Rachelle.
Thank you to every woman who gives their time, talent, and love so selflessly. Your work matters more than words can say. ๐
