THE PROMISE OF LIGHT 💡

"The Word gave life to everything that was created, and his life brought light to everyone. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it."

~ ‭‭John‬ ‭1‬:‭4‬-‭5‬ ‭NLT‬‬

If there was ever a categorical statement in Scripture that can give us hope, it’s this one:

"The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it."

In simple words the "light" is Jesus. His Word is accurate, reliable, and trustworthy. You can lean your full weight on Him because He is infallible. He is the light that reveals and exposes everything.

Darkness is whatever conceals, deceives, misguides, misinforms, and misleads. Darkness, unlike light, has no substance. It can only exist when and where light is absent. Turn on the light and darkness vanishes.

God has given us two amazing promises: (1) Darkness can never win. (2) Light will always win. Do you believe that?

PRAYER 🙏

Heavenly Father, thank you for your promise that light will always win. We need this assurance in a world where darkness is all around us.

Thank you that I know, from your Word, that the Lord Jesus will come again to drive out the darkness, to establish His justice and His reign on earth forever.

So, I can pray with confidence: let your kingdom come; let you will be done on earth as it is done in heaven. Amen.

The Israelites had great pillars of cloud and fire guiding them through the wilderness. And yet, they are still called a stiff-necked and rebellious people. We don't have those kinds of tangible manifestations of God's presence. But the point remains: it's not about what we see on the outside; it's about our heart posture. If you want to be led by God, your heart needs to change!

Inbetween the narrative, John gives us a brief commentary. This is Isaiah's prophecy being fulfilled - some people will believe and some will not. For those who do believe, God will not let them go. No matter how often we might try and sabotage our faith, He will keep us until the last day!

THE IDEA BEHIND THE PRAYER FOCUS ❓

We have been following this format for our weekly prayer focus since the onset of COVID in 2020. What is the purpose of our weekly prayer focus?

Jude gives us a good answer:

"But you, dear friends, by building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in God’s love as you wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you to eternal life."

~ ‭‭Jude‬ ‭1‬:‭20‬-‭21‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Building each other up in faith, praying in the Spirit, and keeping ourselves in God's love. These are the good principles that serve as the motivation for our weekly prayer focus.

May we encourage one another to be accurate in the Word as we walk alongside one another in prayer and faith!

PRAYER 🙏
Thank you, Holy Father, that you have clearly stated in your Word what you want us to know and where you want us to go. Help us, as we soak in your Word, to stay on course, to know you through your Word and through the ministry of the Holy Spirit in us. May we follow Jesus with loyalty and steady steps.

Help us to keep in step with the Spirit, to stay away from those ways that destroy us, and to have submissive hearts that hear you when you speak. Help us to obey you from hearts of love and faithfulness, as sons of the Most High. Amen.

Good morning, Family. Let's bless the Lord together!

This is a strange passage at face value. But in the context of resurrection in this chapter, Paul is actually making a profound statement. Why are we baptised into this message of those gone before if they are nothing but dead?

26/05/2026

The people are asking the wrong questions. The Son of Man is among them; the Light is there. Will they walk in the Light as sons, or will they feel betrayed by Him for not fitting their idea of the Messiah?

THE GIFT OF GIVING 🎁

“Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you."

~ ‭‭Luke‬ ‭6‬:‭38‬ ‭NIV‬‬

How often do we make space in our finances to give to someone in need? We certainly do not give to get, but we give because Jesus told us to give. And when we give, we also receive those good, eternal things that last much longer than these perishable things.

"So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ …But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well."

~ ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭6‬:‭31‬, ‭33‬ ‭NIV‬‬

"Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness."

~ ‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭9‬:‭10‬ ‭NIV‬‬

God is always faithful to meet our every need. Sometimes, we are His instruments to help others meet their needs. Let us be faithful and obedient in giving what we can: time, money, and service. And let us not be self-absorbed takers, for the Gospel is not about getting rich; it is about Christ who died for the forgiveness of our sins.

PRAYER 🙏

Heavenly Father, we know that you are faithful to provide for us. You promised to meet every need. Where I have asked you to meet my needs but I have neglected others with whom I could have shared my resources, please forgive my sin, my disobedience, and my unbelief.

Lord, help me to do what you tell me to do. Help me to give cheerfully to others in need as the Holy Spirit directs me. Amen.

Jesus knew what lay ahead for Him. He knew what kind of death He would die. And yet, despite the flesh's desire to self-preserve, He remained obedient to the Father. If we knew the bad things were in store for us, would we do the same?
