BREAKING THE FAST

Just over a week ago, we gathered to reflect on all that God is doing and has done. We heard testimonies, shared encouragements, and were filled with so much hope.

This time of fasting was a strong reminder of what it means to remain humble before the Lord – in every season.

And so, as we move forward into a season filled with many unknowns, may we remember to stand before God in humility and watch as His glory unfolds.

As you know, our church is about to be on the move, which means it’s time for a big clear-out!

We’re having a moving sale tomorrow in the foyer, with a range of items available. Everything needs to go, so come have a look and see if there’s anything you could use.

As we come to the final day, let’s remember what this fast is ultimately pointing us towards: Jesus, the source of living water.

The things we consume can never truly satisfy us. But Jesus says, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink.” (John 7:37)

As we experience physical hunger and thirst, may it remind us of our deeper need for Christ. He is our source, our sustenance and the One who truly satisfies.

Let’s finish this fast with our eyes fixed on Him, trusting that as we draw from His living water, rivers of living water will flow from us to those around us.

Tonight, we gather at 6PM to break the fast, pray and look towards all that God is calling us into in the season ahead. We’ll see you there!

The parable of the talents reminds us that the Master gave to each servant according to their ability. What matters is not what someone else has been given, but what we do with what God has placed in our hands.

Whether you’re fasting from food, coffee, social media, or something else – don’t measure your fast against someone else’s. This is not a competition. It’s an opportunity to seek the Lord, deny ourselves and draw closer to Him.

Let’s be faithful with what He has asked of us, and keep our eyes on Him.

“Moreover, it is required of stewards that they be found faithful.” — 1 Corinthians 4:2

Let’s begin our fast by humbling ourselves before the Lord.

Jude reminds us that we are beloved by God, but we are also servants of Christ. Our faith is not simply something we profess – it is something we live. Our words, actions, attitudes and the way we treat others should reflect the One we follow.

“To Him who is able to keep you from stumbling… be glory, majesty, dominion and authority, before all time and now and forever.” – Jude 1:24–25

Tomorrow, we begin our church fast.

For three days, we set aside our usual rhythms to dedicate our hearts, minds and bodies to the Lord.

It’s easy to come before God with a long list of things we need, asking Him to move, provide, answer and intervene. But what if, for these three days, we simply chased after Him?

God already knows what we need before we ask. So let’s use this time not only to bring our requests before Him, but to know Him more deeply – to seek His face, listen for His voice and learn to wait on Him.

“Those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength.” — Isaiah 40:31

Next Monday to Wednesday, we’re setting aside three days as a church to fast and pray – intentionally stepping away from the noise and comforts of everyday life to seek God, listen for His voice, and rely on Him above all else.

Have a look at the prayer points we’ll be praying into as a church as we press in together.

We’re expectant for what God is going to do – in our church, in our communities, and in each of us. We believe He is already at work, and we’re excited to seek Him together.

Last Friday, over 200 people gathered for dinner across 28 homes throughout Joburg.

People who had never met became friends. Our community grew stronger. Laughs were shared, stories were told, and tables were filled. What a wonderful night it was!

As we walk through a season of change and transition in the life of FCC, let’s hold onto THIS: our church is the people. Not a building. Not a location. The people.

Come Dine With Us 2026 gave us a beautiful glimpse of just how much life is moving throughout our church. It is vibrant, connected, eager, and ready for all that is to come.
