In celebration of World Optometry Day, One Hope Baptist Church in South Hills proudly celebrates its partnership with Bona Bolo Eye Care Project. Since 2023, the church has hosted annual eye screening events in October for local children. Almost 300 learners from Crestview Primary, Suidheuwels Primary, Montanus Primary, Rewlatch Primary, and Diversity High received vision screenings, and those with refractive errors were provided with free spectacles by Bona Bolo Eye Care. One Hope members demonstrated remarkable hospitality, providing refreshments and ensuring the premises were well-maintained throughout the day. In July 2025, the directors of Bona Bolo Eye Care Project presented a certificate of appreciation to Pastor Khabane Chabedi, acknowledging the church's role in enhancing social development in the community through vision care. One Hope Baptist Church is thankful for the opportunity to serve as a channel of hope in South Hills. Bona Bolo and the church hope that the children who received care will benefit from improved learning abilities and eventually work, and contribute to reducing poverty. As we look forward to the next event, One Hope encourages optometrists and volunteers to remain steadfast, quoting Galatians 6:9, 'Let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up.'
