2024 is here!
One of our aims as a church in 2024 is to build a habit of regular Bible reading. This means working towards developing the habit of reading scripture at least 4 times a week. Here are three practical ways that can help you develop the habit of Bible reading broken down into When, Where and What.
When - Make a set time in your day when you will read the Bible. Such as in the morning before breakfast, or part of your wind-down routine at night or it might even be during your lunch break at work. But set a time in the daily rhythm of your life that you will read the Bible. If you haven't ever done this before start with fitting in 15 minutes. Trust me, those 15 minutes practised regularly throughout 2024 will make a big difference in your life.
Where - Once you have a set time you will need a consistent place where you will read the bible. Such as at your desk, or maybe on your couch before everyone wakes up. Having a set time a place will eliminate a few significant barriers to developing the habit. Having a set place also allows you to move stuff beforehand that would be distracting.
What - Basically have a plan. Know what you going to read. Go into the Bible App and find a reading plan. Or put three bookmarks in your Bible at Genesis, Psalms and Matthew and start making your way through from each bookmark at a pace that works. At the moment it is not about how much you read. It's about developing the habit of spending time with God in the scriptures.
To help you in developing the habit we created the Bible Bookmarks that work as a Habit Tracker. Basically allowing you to write down what you read and what days you read on. If you didn't get one yesterday at church then we will have them available at Church at Home on Sunday.
Lastly, if you want to share your progress, or something you are reading, on social media then use the hashtag so we can all track along with you :)
Here is to developing the habits that will help us have a great 2024!!
