Growth comes in two patterns. There is a kind of growth that brings destruction, and there is a kind of growth that improves the patterns and direction of your life. Not every form of growth is necessarily beneficial. At times, what appears to be progress can come with distractions, challenges, and even destruction.
We see this principle in the book of Genesis. People multiplied, grew, and expanded, yet their growth was accompanied by corruption and rebellion against God. As a result, God brought judgment upon them, but He preserved a seed through which His purpose could continue. This reminds us that growth without the right foundation can ultimately lead to destruction.
It is evident that the enemy works against progress. There are forces that will oppose what God is doing in your life and resist the progress you are making. Therefore, we must be careful about the spirit behind certain behaviours and attitudes.
One of these is criticism.
We must not become people who constantly criticise others. Criticism can become more than a habit; it can become a spirit that influences the way a person sees and responds to others. When you hear people continually criticising others, we should discern what spirit is influencing that behaviour.
The best way to overcome a pattern of criticism is not merely to speak against what is wrong, but to demonstrate what is right. Instead of criticising what someone else is doing, become an example of something better. Do what is right. Do what is better. Let your life become the answer to the very thing you once criticised.
God believes in training people before bringing them into greater levels of growth. He prepares a person so that when increase comes, that increase does not destroy them or cause them to move away from Him.
God's training does not always come in a comfortable or pleasant way. Life itself teaches us through experiences, disappointments, failures, challenges, and moments of regret. When we fail to learn from these experiences, we can become trapped by them.
A life filled with regret can become a dangerous place. Instead of allowing regret to destroy you, allow your experiences to teach you. Take yourself through the process of learning. Become a person who receives lessons from life, grows through them, and applies what has been learned. When you do this, you will be positioned to prosper.
Find out what God says about the person who is in a bad place and what He says about the person who is in a good place. Learn to recognise that both seasons can teach you something.
Whatever you regret, you can release. But whatever you learn from, you can carry with you. What you have learned can be transformed and ultimately work together for your good.
Do not throw away everything simply because some experiences were painful. Learn from them. Do not allow your past to become wasted pain; allow it to become wisdom for your future.
You may be at the top today, and tomorrow a crisis may come. That does not mean it is the end.
A crisis is not necessarily the conclusion of your story. Sometimes it is another stage of your training, another opportunity to learn, and another place from which God can bring you into greater growth.
Grow through what you go through. Learn from every season. Do not allow your experiences to destroy you; allow them to develop you.
