Lighthouse Church

Lighthouse Church Our goal is to help people find and follow Jesus (John 14:12 and 1 Cor 12:10).

What we Believe:
• The Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments in their original writings as fully inspired by God, and accept them as the final authority for faith and life.
• In one God eternally existing in three persons - Father, Son and the Holy Spirit.
• That the Lord Jesus Christ was begotten by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, and is true God and true Man.
• That God created man

in His own image: that man sinned and thereby incurred the penalty of death, physical and spiritual; and that all human beings inherit a sinful nature, which issues in actual transgression involving personal guilt.
• That the Lord Jesus Christ died for our sins, a substitutionary sacrifice, according to the Scriptures, and that all who believe and trust in Him are justified on the ground of His shed blood.
• In the bodily resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ, His ascension into heaven, and His present life as our High Priest and Advocate.
• In the personal return of the Lord Jesus Christ.
• In the personality of the Holy Spirit, His regenerating work, and His abiding presence in the true believer.
• All who repent of their sins and receive the Lord Jesus Christ by faith are born again of the Holy Spirit and thereby become children of God.
• That all Christians are called to a life of holiness and devotion to the Lord Jesus Christ and service to Him.
• In the resurrection both of the just and the unjust, the eternal blessedness of the redeemed, and the eternal banishment from God of those who have rejected the offer of salvation.
• That the whole company of those who have accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as their Saviour, have been redeemed by Him and regenerated by the Holy Spirit and form the one true Church, and that the local church on earth should take its character from this concept. Therefore the new birth and personal confession of faith in Christ are essentials of church membership.
• That the Holy Spirit indwells all true believers and that He has been sent to be the Comforter and Empowerer of the Christian Church, to produce the fruit of the Holy Spirit and the gifts of the Holy Spirit according to the Scriptures.
• In the priesthood of all believers.
• That the Lord Jesus Christ appointed two ordinances - Baptism and the Lord’s Table - to be observed as acts of obedience and as a perpetual witness to the cardinal facts of the Christian faith; that Baptism is the immersion of the believer in water as a confession of identification with Christ in burial and resurrection, and that the Lord’s table involves partaking of the bread and the cup as symbols of the Saviour’s broken body and shed blood, in remembrance of His sacrificial death till His return.
• That the healing of the sick is still available in our day. (Mark 16:16-18; Matt 8:16&17; 1 Cor 12:9 and James 5:14-5).
• That God never removed the gifts of the Holy Spirit from the Church, and that the Scriptural commands to "seek earnestly the best gifts", and to "forbid not to speak in tongues", are still applicable today (1 Corinthians chapters 12, 13 and 14 ... Note 1 Corinthians 14 verses 1 and 39).
• That the ascended Christ has given various ministries or ministers to the Church in order to bring all believers to the place of Christian maturity in understanding of truth, and the performance and function of the ministry. (Eph 4:11; Rom 12:4-8 and 1 Cor 12 :10) following.
• That the miracles as recorded in the Bible were real miracles, and are possible in the present day.

When we receive the grace of God, we are set free from sin and called into a new life of righteousness. But some misunderstand, even abuse, this grace.
We must learn from Jesus who came with grace and truth. He's the friend of sinners, but not the friend of sin! He welcomes sinners as a doctor welcomes the sick - to deliver them from their sin. Jesus taught us to deal with sin with grace and truth, seeking resolution, but as privately as possible. He also taught us to put boundaries in place when someone is unrepentant.

Romans 6:6-18, John 1:17, Luke 5:27-32, Matthew 18:15-17

Faith is hearing God and obeying. We hear his words, believe them and act on them.
Faith is not foolishness. The foolish do as they please - or do nothing - and expect God to always provide and rescue.
Faith is also not presumption. The presumptuous claim promises made to someone else for themselves. The presumptuous take risks that God did not ask them to take. The presumptuous expect God to bless their independent actions and plans.
True faith trusts God always, asks God for wisdom and revelation, listens, hears, believes and obeys.

Romans 10:17, Hebrews 11:1, Proverbs 15:22, Proverbs 21:25

The Christian life has been likened to a marathon. A glorious start leads to a long journey to the finish. When running gets hard, remember:
- Jesus chose us and is 100% committed to us
- Our grip on him may fail, but his grip on us will not fail
- Our commitment keeps us in the race
- Commitment abides, obeys and endures
- Fellowship is essential for mutual encouragement

Because God has extended such wonderful grace to us, we extend the same kind of grace to others:
- We bless or forgive even though it's undeserved
- We pay a price that's rightfully due to them even though it can feel unjust & unnatural
- We extend compassion, kindness, gentleness & patience
- We bear with weaknesses & different ways
- We forgive without counting or recording offenses
- We serve with the gifts that God has given us
- We choose words that build up & don't break down
