Last night, the CTHSS celebrated Janmashtami with much love and devotion at the Vishnu Mandir. πŸ™
After a Ganpati Stuti by Rohitbhai, Jaywantbhai welcomed devotees and thanked Anushiyabhen and her team for the planning and preparations for this auspicious function to celebrate the birthday of Shree Krishna Bhagavan. πŸ™
Beautiful bhajans in praise of Lord Krishna were sung by CTHSS Bhajan Sangeet as well as Yashubhai and Darshanbhai, followed by a wonderful set of devotional singing by Jevilbhai and the BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha Bhajan group. The musical vibrations created a incredible spiritual feeling in the mandir. πŸ™
Mayabhen then rendered a inspirational talk on Janmashtami and then it was the turn of the dancers from Aaraadhana followed by Taare. πŸ™
Both groups used the art form of dance to tell stories of Lord Krishna, set to lovely music and energetic dancing. We are truly blessed to have Darshanabhen (Aaraadhana) and Ahneeshbhai (Taare) providing direction to these wonderfully talented young ladies who performed with such skill and devotion last night. πŸ™
After the aarti, devotees were afforded the opportunity to offer prayers at the cradle of Lord Krishna and prasad was provided in the Samaj Hall. πŸ™
Thereafter DLS CT conducted a programme which included bhajans, a few talks and midnight aarti.
A truly spiritually uplifting evening.

Thank you to all who participated in the programme. We appreciate all of you. πŸ™
Thank you to all devotees that attended last night. Jai Shree Krishna. πŸ™

Yesterday was the culmination of the 2026 Shravan Seva of the CTHSS which benefitedthe Sisters Incorporated Home for women in distress.
Through the generous donations received from members and friends of the Samaj, the Welfare Committee was able to purchase items requested by this Kenilworth facility on Friday. The donations enabled the Samaj to give care packs, containing various toiletries and clothing items, as well as bulk food items to the Home. πŸ™πŸ™πŸ™
Volunteers helped pack the goods into bags so that each of the 21 women at the Home coukd receive their own care pack. Hareshbhai, Rameshbhai and Jaywantbhai visited the Home where they met with House Mothers, Ms Myrna August and Ms Liz Weiner. The CTHSS officials thanked the women and their staff for the great work they did in supporting and caring for the survivors of abuse.
The Samaj officials were given a tour of the facility which includes a fully functional child care centre and a skills room.
Our sincere thanks goes to every donor that took the time to donate and for their love, kindness and generosity. πŸ™πŸ™πŸ™
This was a worthy cause in the context of this month being Women's Month and with the challenges of GBV so prevalent in our country.

Yesterday's Shravan Havan was conducted beautifully by Rohitbhai Kooverjee who explained that the havan ceremony enables us to enact the reality that nothing in this world is ours. We thus make offerings into the sacred fire, chanting Vedic verses in honour of the Almighty and at the end of several verses is the phrase 'idan na mama' or 'this is not for me'.
Several devotees sat at the havan and participated in the holy ceremony.

Next Sunday will be the final Shravan Havan which will be performed by Kavirbhai Daya who will conduct a Rudra havan. It will also include prayers for the victims of the Nepal flash flood.

Pramillabhen Vassen gave a lovely talk on Raksha Bandan mentioning the beauty of this festival in which sisters tied rakhis on the arm of their brothers. She highlighted the love of the sibling bond and how this festival strengthens the ties in families. Drawing on stories from the Mahabharata, Pramillabhen expressed joy at the practice of tieing of rakhis gaining popularity beyond siblings alone, showing that the practice can promote love, protection and sweetness among genders.

Hareshbhai Magan then thanked all donors who gave generously toward this year's Shravan Seva which benefited Sisters Incorporated, a home for women in distress. He indicated that we purchased goods towards a care pack for each woman at the home as well as bulk food items as per requirements of the Home. πŸ™πŸ•‰πŸ™Thanks once again to our wonderful members and friends of the Samaj & Vishnu Mandir that contributed to this Shravan Seva. May the Lord bless each donor for their kindness. πŸ™πŸ•‰πŸ™

Bhajans were then rendered by Darshanbhai and Mishkabhen after which the congregation observed a minute's silence for the victims of the Nepal flood disaster. The service ended with the Shaanti Paath. πŸ™πŸ•‰πŸ™
As devotees left the Vishnu Mandir, three of our younger members tied rakhis for each devotee. Thank you to Kavina, Kavisha and Saradha for always assisting at the mandir. πŸ™πŸ•‰πŸ™
