Today we had a wonderful Friendship Service, followed by a beautiful time of fellowship together.

On Sunday morning, 30 August 2026, the Retreat East Congregation enjoyed a special treat.

The Cape Town Choir visited the congregation and joined the resident choir, creating some truly beautiful musical moments before, during, and after the divine service.

District Rector André Lamprecht officiated, and the Bible text for the sermon was taken from Exodus 20:13

“You shall not murder.”

The District Rector expanded on this Commandment, explaining that it calls us not only to reject violence, but also to guard our hearts against anger, hatred and grudges, choosing instead to respect, protect and promote life.

Evangelist Deon Maart was called up to serve along.

In preparation for the Sacrament of Holy Communion, the congregation was reminded that when we fall short, we can humbly trust that God’s mercy is greater than our imperfections, giving us the strength to forgive, to love and to live according to His will.

On this festive morning, the choir concluded the divine service with a double treat: a resounding concluding anthem. While the congregation greeted, the choir offered an additional final musical item, bringing a fitting end to a truly special morning.

A Blessed Morning.

This morning, we had the great joy of experiencing Holy Baptism as three precious children were baptized.

We also celebrated the baptism of a young adult, marking a beautiful new chapter and the beginning of a journey of faith, love and belonging within the Church of Christ.

It was truly a special morning filled with joy, gratitude and God’s blessing. May our Heavenly Father continue to guide, protect and strengthen each one as they grow in His love and grace.
