Platinum Wedding Anniversary in Grassy Park
On Sunday, 10 May 2026, the congregation of Grassy Park Central witnessed an extraordinary milestone as District Rector Bernard Scholtz bestowed the 70th Wedding Anniversary blessing on Bro Koos and Sis Mavis Faulmann, a true testament to love, faith, commitment, and God’s grace.
Married on 27 April 1956, their love story began during their school years when young Sis Mavis rode past on her red bicycle and caught Bro Koos’ attention. As he fondly recalls, she had the most beautiful legs. Sis Mavis, seeing him for the first time, turned to her friend and confidently declared, ‘I will get married to that one.’
Not long after, Bro Koos came to visit and played beautiful songs for her on his guitar, capturing her heart completely. Love prevailed, and 70 years later they are still cycling life’s journey together, much like those early days on that famous red bicycle.
Like every marriage, their road was not always easy. Sis Faulmann recalls her mother’s words of wisdom: ‘If you love, respect, and give freely, your bread bin will always be full.’ Those values became the foundation of their marriage and carried the Faulmann couple through seven remarkable decades together.
Together they built a beautiful family legacy of 5 children, 9 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren, all deeply grateful for the love, guidance, discipline, and faith instilled in them by their parents.
Their children remember a home built on strong Christian values, discipline, hard work, and unwavering faith in God, with their father being a quiet, hardworking and God-fearing man, and their mother a gentle listener, advisor, encourager, and people’s person.
Through life’s joys and challenges, they remained faithful to one another and to God. Their marriage stands today as a beautiful example that while no relationship is perfect, love, faith, commitment, and God’s grace can sustain a lifetime together.
