IN THE BEGINNING

Genesis 1:1 (NKJV)

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
What an amazing statement! In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. It does not say, “I hope God did.” It sure does not show God trying to prove that He did. It just says that He did it! One thing is sure, and that is, that God is sure of Himself. We need to just believe it His way, and everything will work out.
When you think about what this verse has in it, it is truly amazing. God created everything that we can see (and the things that we cannot see) with His Word. He made the stars, the planets, and the moons that circle the planets. He made every living thing, from humans to animals to angelic beings. He made it all!
God, our heavenly Father, is truly amazing, and one day we will share in this wonder of His. It says in 1 Corinthians 2:9, “But as it is written: “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.”
Now that should get your hope and expectation going! God has given us little glimpses of heaven and the new earth. He told us about things like streets of gold, no pain or sickness, and the lion laying with the lamb. One day it will all happen, and we will live before Him and with Him. One day, we will see our Jesus!
I do not know about you, but I want to be able to hear Him say, “Well done you good and faithful one.” Yeah, that is going to be heaven right there! So go ahead and look at all that God has created, because He created it for you and for me.

HIS PEACE IS AMAZING

John 14:27 (AMP)

Peace I leave with you; My [own] peace I now give and bequeath to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid. [Stop allowing yourselves to be agitated and disturbed; and do not permit yourselves to be fearful and intimidated and cowardly and unsettled].
His peace, the peace of our Lord Jesus, is truly amazing. It does not matter what you are going through. When you stop and put your mind on Him, His peace fills you up. I have found that many times I get myself all wound up for nothing, and then I am all kinds of fried out. But when I get smart and I get my mind on Him, it all comes together.
In this verse, Jesus tells us that the peace that He is going to give us is not like the peace that this world gives. It is a very different kind of peace. The world gives peace that lasts for a moment, but the peace that God gives us is a peace that lasts for eternity. His peace is beyond what our minds can even think.
We find ourselves many times in some sort of problem in life. You know what? That is life! Life is full of “things,” if you know what I mean. Jesus said it like this, in John 16:33: “These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”
Wow! Yes, we are going to have things in this world, but cheer up! He has overcome the world! Now He has given us the ability to overcome through Him. So today, live in His peace, and not in your fears.

LET’S SHARPEN EACH OTHER

Proverbs 27:17 (NKJV)
As iron sharpens iron, so a man sharpens the countenance of his friend.
This is such a powerful verse, that I want us to look at it from a few other translations:
Proverbs 27:17 (NLT) As iron sharpens iron, so a friend sharpens a friend.
Proverbs 27:17 (MSG) You use steel to sharpen steel, and one friend sharpens another.
Proverbs 27:17 (TLB) A friendly discussion is as stimulating as the sparks that fly when iron strikes iron.
Proverbs 27:17 (CEV) Just as iron sharpens iron, friends sharpen the minds of each other.
Proverbs 27:17 (NCV) As iron sharpens iron, so people can improve each other.
When a couple of people get together, it helps them to sharpen one another. To me, this is why church is so valuable. When we get together with other believers in a group setting under the anointing of God, Holy Spirit sparks fly!
I have had times of just sitting with another person, and it caused me to look within and say, “Man, I need to work on that,” or, “Yeah, I am having the same issues. It is not just me. Others fight this too.” Being with other believers is so powerful, that when the early church was fighting things that came against them, they came together and prayed.
Acts 4:23, “And being let go, they went to their own company, and reported all that the chief priests and elders had said unto them.”
That is what it is all about! When you are going through something, or you are hurting, do not stay at home. Get to church and worship God with other believers, and see what God does in your heart, and also in their hearts. You might be there to help someone else!

LOVE NOT THE WORLD

1 John 2:15-17 (NKJV)

15 Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For all that is in the world–the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life–is not of the Father but is of the world. 17 And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever.
One thing that we should desire more than anything is the love of the Father. If there is anything that displeases God, we should avoid it, because our heart is for Him. I love my wife, so I do not go out of my way to do things that hurt her. I look for things that will bless her.
Here, God tell us not to love the world’s system, or the spirit of the age. He also tells us what some of these things are: “The lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life.”
Think about it. God wants the best for us, and He wants us to live the abundant life. He knows that the love of the world in our lives will cause us to live a defeated life. So what does God, as Father, do? He does what every good father would do. He warns us. He tells us to watch out for the things that will cause us to fall; the things that will destroy us.
So go ahead, look at these three areas, and then look in your own heart. Is there an area that you need help in? Maybe pride or lust? Then talk to God, and let Him give you the strength to overcome it.

OUR FATHER IS EVERYWHERE

Psalm 139:7-10 (NKJV)

7 Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence? 8 If I ascend into heaven, You are there; if I make my bed in hell, behold, You are there. 9 If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, 10 even there Your hand shall lead me, and Your right hand shall hold me.
God, our Heavenly Father, is everywhere. Perhaps that may worry some people, but one thing we need to know is that He is everywhere to help and bless us. God, our Father, is not like some earthly fathers that are looking for their kids to make a mistake. No, He is looking to see all the good things we do!
When we understand that God sees us through Christ, it changes everything. Christ is perfect, and God sees me through Christ’s perfection. It is like God wears red colored glasses, so every time He sees me, He sees me washed in the blood of Jesus.
What this does to us is it gives us the freedom to get to know Him. We are not always looking over our shoulder and thinking, “God is waiting for me to blow it.” We can say, “No matter where I am, He is here to comfort me, to love me, and to fellowship with me.” That gets rid of all the fear, and puts intimacy with God in its place. How sweet is that?

THE HOLY SPIRIT WITHIN US

1 Corinthians 6:19 (NKJV)

Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own?
It always amazes me that God, by His Spirit, dwells in us. In the Old Covenant, God’s Spirit came upon people, but never dwelled within them. Yet here we are, born again, new creations in Christ, and the All-Powerful, Holy Spirit lives in us!
In John 14, Jesus tells us that the Holy Spirit will be with us and in us. The Amplified version shows us all the different things that He will do within us. Look at this passage:
John 14:16-17, “And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Comforter (Counselor, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, Strengthener, and Standby), that He may remain with you forever— 17 the Spirit of Truth, Whom the world cannot receive (welcome, take to its heart), because it does not see Him or know and recognize Him. But you know and recognize Him, for He lives with you [constantly] and will be in you.”
Wow! That is seven different works within us! So today, look at these different ministries of the Holy Spirit, and let Him move in your life to help you. He is not there just to take up room. He is there to be your Comforter, Counselor, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, Strengthener, and Standby. Let Him be all that He wants to be, in you!

ABIDING IN HIM

John 15:7 (NKJV)

If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.
I love the way this verse is written in some different translations. Check these out:
John 15:7 (AMP) If you live in Me [abide vitally united to Me] and My words remain in you and continue to live in your hearts, ask whatever you will, and it shall be done for you.
John 15:7 (NLT) But if you remain in me and my words remain in you, you may ask for anything you want, and it will be granted!
John 15:7 (MSG) But if you make yourselves at home with me and my words are at home in you, you can be sure that whatever you ask will be listened to and acted upon.
Powerful, right? If we live and remain in His Word, the powerful Word of Almighty God, if we, as the Amplified Version says, stay “vitally united to Him,” we can ask what we will, and it will be done for us.
So, as we live our lives, look to Him as your source, and believe Him each and every day to be your all. Let His Word get deep within your heart. Feel His heartbeat next to you. He wants us to remain in Him and to be filled with His joy, so we can partake of all that He has for us. Today, ABIDE IN HIM!

GREATER LOVE

John 15:13 (NKJV)

Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.
When I read this verse, I think of our greatest friend, Jesus Christ, who laid down His life for us. He gave His all so that we could have His all. This is truly the great exchange. He went to the cross for us, suffered the penalty of sin for you and for me, not because He had to, but because of His great love for us.
I think of Romans 5:8: “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
He did not wait until I was all cleaned up. He did not say, “When you fix this up, or fix that up, then you will be good enough.” No, not our Jesus! While we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. What amazing love! What amazing giving of self! Our Jesus’ life was a total sacrifice; a total giving of Himself.
He had everything, but lost us, so what did He do? He laid everything down and came and got us. It is like the song we used to sing: “The love of God how rich and pure, how measureless and strong.” The Creator is always caring for His creation. That is our Jesus! That is His love! And for all eternity, we will be singing His praise!

BEHOLD HIS LOVE

1 John 3:1 (NKJV)

Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him.
Behold His love, that He would call us His children! He did not have to. He could have called us His servants, but no, not our Heavenly Father! He calls us His children!
Today, we can declare that we are children of the Most High God, the Creator of heaven and earth, the One who made all the good that we see. He made us, and loves us, and wants to be a Father to us. To me, this is truly amazing!
The Creator of the Grand Canyon, the Creator of Niagara Falls, the Creator of the butterfly, and the Creator of the rose is my Creator, and He calls me His child. I do not know if this is getting you excited today, but it has me jumping on the inside!
So today, do not let a minute go by without talking to Him, your Heavenly Father, Who made you, loves you, and is passionate about you. He has your best interest in mind. Today, talk to Him as a loving child of a loving Father.
Your Heavenly Father desires this more than anything. Would not any good Father want that? He desires you. You are His beloved. You are fearfully and wonderfully made!

REJOICE ALWAYS

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 (NKJV)

16 Rejoice always, 17 pray without ceasing, 18 in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
Here, we have three verses that have so much in them. Let us take one each day for the next three days.
Verse 16 says, “Rejoice always.” Well, I do not know about you, but if you are living on planet earth and you are still breathing, to do this verse is not always easy. To rejoice when things are not going our way, or when things are just going badly, is difficult. Yet this verse tell us to do this, and one thing I have learned over the years is that if God gives us a word in the Bible to do, then He will give us the strength and power to do it.
How do we rejoice always? Well, I believe that we need to see the best in what is going on around us. We need to be positive, and to know that even if the devil is bringing something against us, our Heavenly Father will get us through. The Bible says in Romans 8:31, “What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?” Just knowing that God is for us is enough reason to rejoice!
So today, no matter what is going on, rejoice always! Not for what is going on, but because your Father in Heaven is for you, and He will get you through it. He will not let you down. So today, rejoice always in Him!
