Lord, in your mercy.

We echo the words of The Pacific Northwest Conference of The United Methodist Church: "Please keep the people of Spokane and others across the state in your prayers as wildfires devastate, disrupt, and displace. May God be with those who are impacted, with first responders and fire fighters, and with all who will offer care as and after the fires are put out."

Spokane's fires are also testing its churches. As Level 3 evacuations spread across northwest Spokane, congregations are stepping up — opening their doors as shelters, canceling services, and organizing prayer for evacuees, first responders and neighbors who've lost homes. The PNW Disaster Response Team of the Pacific Northwest Conference is monitoring the fires near White Swan. We have been in touch with our disaster response coordinators and arranged for 20 clean air kits to be delivered to Yakima Neighborhood Health Services for distribution to those affected by the fires. As our region continues to be impacted by fires, we continue to communicate with our Disaster Relief partners and will share any needs as they arise.
