GOOD AND FAITHFUL SERVANT: REMEMBERING ROY ALLISON
We often speak of longing to hear our Lord say, “Well done, good and faithful servant” (Mt.25:21). I am quite certain that my
friend and mentor, Roy Allison, heard those words as he awakened in the presence of Christ on June 30 . If you didn’t know,
Roy served as the SGM Operations Manager for the past 7 years. He was a most trusted advisor and mentor to me as I have
attempted to steward this wonderful ministry. In fact, I didn’t make one major decision for SGM without the counsel of Roy
Allison over the course of my tenure as Executive Director.
Perhaps few people really know what Roy did. He was like the “hub of the wheel.” He did so many tasks necessary to keep SGM
running smoothly. He processed donations (with the help of his lovely wife Beverly). He was our employee advocate. He made
sure we had appropriate policies and insurances in place to protect the ministry and our missionaries. He kept files, inventoried
student resources, served as our board secretary, and he was my trusted advisor. In essence, Roy was God’s steward (Col.1:25),
and he was a faithful one (1 Cor.4:2). We shall miss him dearly.
Beyond the scope of his service with SGM, Roy served for 30+ years in pastoral ministry. He was a faithful husband, father,
grandfather, and member of Calvary Bible Church. He didn’t stop serving in this life, until the Lord took him home. Roy Allison
is an example of a man who understood God’s grace and wanted to see that grace spread on a global scale with his every breath.
I thank our Lord for granting us the great blessing of having such a steward of Christ serve with Spread of Grace.
Compelled by Christ’s Love,
Mike
