Let’s Pray

Dear God, my mind gets filled up fast these days. It sometimes feels like a jumble of deadlines, bad news, unsavory media, sounds, and images I didn’t choose, and even fears about my future.

Thank you for reminding me in Philippians 4:8 that this mind you gave me can not only absorb, but it can also make active decisions. I can choose what I focus on. I’m so grateful you gave me eight ideas to replace fears, anger, worry, upset, and more.

God, I pray that you would empower me to clear my head today. Move me to make time in my schedule to purposely choose what I want to think about. And, please, keep showing me lovely, pure, noble, and praiseworthy things, so I can follow the path of peace you desire for me.

In your holy name I pray,

Let’s Pray

O God of all justice, I bring to You today my intense anger and grief over the wrongs in the world. Children forced to do slave labor. Individuals are deceived into unfair and inhumane working conditions. These are not merely far-off issues in remote places–they affect my life here and now because many items that are available for me to purchase, often cheaply, were produced by slave labor.

You know, Lord, that there are numerous other acts in the world that are unjust: racism, people displaced from their homes, individuals going without food, girls and women exploited because of who they are. These realities fill me with a restlessness that echoes what I know to be true: “It should not be this way.” But I trust in You, God, for You are just and good. Vengeance belongs to You. Therefore, You will avenge in Your timing and according to Your perfect judgment. Help me to walk in justice and mercy until the day You return to make all things right. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Prayers for Healing and Prayer Stations for Children returning to school will begin at 10:30 am
Students, please bring your backpacks for a blessing and items that you receive at prayer stations.

Dedication of Playground 11:00 am
(We will have the dedication for playground. Work is not complete
so, we ask that everyone remain off the playground for safety reasons.)

Picnic Following - Food line will be indoors. You may sit at tables to eat or bring food outside to eat.

Let's Pray

Father God,

What a holy and set-apart opportunity You have entrusted to us in loving someone who is beset with grief. Lord, we ask not only for Your peace to be poured upon the person who is aching, but we implore You to use us as Your mouthpiece in this delicate situation. Let us be used in this time for Your purpose and plan, and give us the wisdom of what to say, what to do, and how to show up for the person who is hurting. We thank You that You are ever present, ever loving, and ever mindful of each of us, just as You were for Mary and Martha that day outside Lazarus’s tomb.

May we glorify You in this process and place.

Lord, in our sinful flesh, it’s so easy to shrug off your Word, to dismiss its beauty, power, and freedom. Whether it’s a busy season, a challenging circumstance, or the enemy’s distractions, we too easily place Bible reading on the back burner. So please grant us the discernment to find someone we can read your truth with, and may this commitment to Scripture revive our hearts and awaken a new desire to stay tethered to who you are through the pages of the Bible.

Dear God,
I can feel the upcoming autumn season approaching, and I already want to race ahead into the busyness of it. I confess that I often let my mind get cluttered with worries about tasks I need to complete, problems I need to solve, and other concerns. But right now, I’m choosing to stop worrying and start trusting you more. In this quiet place where we’re together now for prayer and meditation, please quiet the noise inside my soul. Send me your peace. I want to live with a steadfast mind that’s rooted in your truth, not a mind that’s constantly tossed around by changing circumstances. I surrender my need for constant productivity and choose to rest in your presence. I trust you to meet all of my needs, God. Thank you for taking good care of me so I won’t have to worry about taking the time I need to rest in quiet with you. As the seasons change outside, let your unchanging peace keep me steady. Thank you, God. Amen.

Ever-present God, I praise you that you never leave my side. Even when I struggle to sense your presence in my deepest pain and suffering, you are there. Even when I question my performance, when my faith feels far from perfect, or when I wonder if I’m deserving of your love and care, you are there. Because I am yours and you are mine, you will never forsake me. I have chosen to seek you, to know you, and to place my trust in you. So no matter what circumstances surround me, I know you will follow me, love me, and forever bless me. Thank you for the great gift of your constant care and unconditional love. Let’s Pray

Root of Jesse, the Scriptures speak of a coming day when You will rule in peace and righteousness. On that day, the world will be filled with the knowledge of You, and all will confess that You, Jesus, are Lord.

With Your rule, peace will come to creation, where a small child will be able to lead a group of animals without harm. I long for this day when all things will be made right. Wars will cease. Humans will live in harmony with Your good creation. Death will die.

Right now, though, I find myself in the “in-between” of here, but not yet. Help me to wait in faithfulness, making the most of my opportunities to promote peace in the lives and world around me. May I also live with a steady trust that the current tooth and claw reality in creation is not forever–– peace is coming. So, I trust, in the words of Your servant Julian of Norwich, that “all shall be well.” In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
