Lakeside Baptist Church

Sunday morning, October 25, Brother Glynn Jones led the church family in singing “Blessed Assurance,” “Amazing Grace,” “Further Along,” and “The Unclouded Day.” Brother Mac Brunson’s message was from Acts 1:8, the Great Commission, where Jesus told His disciples, and all Christians, that the Holy Spirit will give us the power to be witnesses in Jerusalem (your hometown), in all Judea (Louisiana), and to the ends of the earth (the world). God has a plan for every one of us. He will enable us to do what He has asked us to do. “For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord. They are plans for good and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope (Jeremiah 29:11).”

To accomplish God’s plan for our lives, we need to pray, believing that God can and will empower, direct, and lead us by the power of His Holy Spirit. We may be discouraged when changes happen in our lives. How can we encourage one another toward love and good deeds? We need to keep encouraging each other as we meet together in church as the body of Christ. Change is as natural as the sun rising and setting. It’s not what happens to us that makes a difference. It’s how we react to change. We need to walk with the Lord every day and do what pleases Him. One day we will all face Him. Will He say, “Well done, good and faithful servant,” or will He say “Depart from me; I never knew you (Matthew 25:12)?”

Sunday evening, we made a joyful noise, singing favorite hymns. Bro. Mac explained Jesus’ Parable of the Sower. The seed the farmer sowed is the Word of God. Those by the wayside are those who hear the Word of God; then Satin comes and takes away the Word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved. The stony ground represents those who enjoy hearing sermons, but somehow the Word never gets through to them and never takes root and grows. They know the message is true and believe for a while; but when the hot winds of persecution blow, they lose interest. The seed among the thorns, represents those who listen to and believe God’s Word but whose faith is choked out by worry, riches, responsibilities, and pleasures of life. The good soil represents people who listen to God’s Word and share it with others who soon believe.

Next Sunday we are looking forward to Brother David Essmeier’s first Sunday with us as our full-time pastor. God has blessed our church with Brother David and his wife Lisa. We will also have a Gideon speaker Sunday morning. After the Sunday morning service, we will join together for food, fellowship, and fun in the Fellowship Hall. All are invited. We hope you will join us for this special time.

Lakeside Baptist Church

Sunday morning, October 18, Brother Glynn Jones led our church family in singing praise hymns to our Lord and Savior. Brother Mac Brunson reminded us always to thank God for His many blessings. November 26, our nation celebrates Thanksgiving, a time to remember everything we have to be thankful for. We need to remember that every good gift and every perfect gift is from our heavenly Father, who is working in all circumstances. We can be thankful even in the midst of troubles because of the love of God, realizing that God is always working to produce good (1 Thessalonians 5:18, Romans 8:28). The number one reason to be thankful is found in John 3:16, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, so that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

Sunday evening, we sang our favorite hymns. Brother Brunson’s message was from Joshua 2:1-7, the account of Rehab who protected two Israeli spies from capture. God always takes care of those who follow His plan to help others find Jesus as their Lord and Savior. When Joshua followed God’s instructions to destroy Jericho, the center of Canaan, a heathen nation, God protected Rehab and everyone living in her house. God chooses ordinary people like you and me to accomplish His purposes to bring all to His saving grace. We can always depend on Him. He never changes and controls everything. We need to look around us and see what His perfect plan is for us.

We are filling Christmas Shoe Boxes this year; we have printed information that tells what can be put in them. If you would like to fill one or donate money to the shoe boc ministry, let one of the ladies of the church or Ann Crooks know. Drop-off week is November 16-23.

Lakeside Baptist Church

During the Sunday morning worship service on October 11, Brother Shane Hyde led the church family in singing “Brethren We Have Met to Worship,” “Blessed Assurance,” “Lord, I’m Coming Home,” and “Heaven’s Jubilee.” Sister Dianne Blundell, our beloved pianist, played one of our favorite hymns, “In the Garden.” Brother Mac Brunson brought the morning message from Ephesians 6:10-20, describing the “Whole Armor of God.” Putting on the whole armor of God is vital with all that is going on in the world today. We all face temptations and difficulties that we can’t cope with on our own. During difficult times, we need to go to the Source of all life, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, who loved us so much that He laid down His life so that all those who believe in Him might have eternal life in Heaven with Him. He sent the Holy Spirit to indwell all of those who believe in Him to guide and empower us.

Whether we are aware of it or not, we are all engaged in a real spiritual battle between two opposing kingdoms. We are provided with a self-defense course in Ephesians 6, where the apostle Paul describes the six dimensions of our physical armor using the model of a Roman soldier to describe how we can stand strong in the midst of this ever-present, but unseen, spiritual battle: namely, the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, feet protected by the gospel of peace, the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit-- the Word of God. Thankfully, our spiritual armor is to be used in a war that has already been won. All we have to do is to believe in and trust and obey Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. “We are more than conquerors through Christ who loves us (Romans 8:37).”

Sunday evening, we made a joyful noise to the Lord, singing our favorite hymns. Brother David Essmeier brought the message from 1 Samuel 30:7-20. During difficult times, we need to encourage ourselves by remembering what God has done for us. We can go straight to the Lord because of the great sacrifice that Jesus made for us. The Lord hears the prayers of the righteous (Proverbs 15:29). “Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know. (Jeremiah 33:3). What questions do you have for the Lord? He expects us to move forward in faith. Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen (Hebrews 11:1). But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him (Hebrews 11:6). God will guide and protect us when we follow Him. We must actively pursue Jesus in everything we say, think, and do, both individually and as a church body. He will reward us when we put Jesus first in our lives.

Lakeside Baptist Church

Sunday morning, October 4th, Brother Shane Hyde reminded us that our hope is in the Lord who made heaven and earth, leading the church family in singing “I Know Who Holds Tomorrow,” “Mansion Over the Hilltop,” “How Beautiful Heaven Must Be,” and “This World Is Not My Home.” Brother Mac Brunson delivered the morning message from Exodus 1:6-19, encouraging us to face changes and difficult situations without fear or doubt. We have faced changes in many ways in the last few decades in the world, in our country, and in our personal lives. How can we deal with changes in our lives that come often? We need to pray for the Holy Spirit to show us God’s plan for our lives. We need the peace of God in our lives. God cares for us and will work through us to accomplish His plan for our lives. When we have difficulties, we need to go to the source of power, comfort, and peace. He is able and will take care of us. With God nothing is impossible. We need to believe and trust in Him. Life is not perfect, but the way we handle our lives is a testimony to others around us. Wherever we go, Christ’s followers are representing the Lord. We need to share God’s plan for salvation to all we come into contact with who don’t know His amazing love and pray for them.

Sunday evening, Brother David Essmeier’s message came from 1 Samuel 30:1-8, recounting the time when the enemy stole everything that was important to David and his men, and David’s men were ready to stone him. Instead of despairing, David went to the Lord and asked Him what to do. The Lord strengthened and encouraged David and told him to go and take back all that the enemy had stolen. David believed the Lord and was victorious in the Lord. When things don’t go well in our lives, we need to go to the Lord, and He will encourage and strengthen us as He did David. God is good and is in control. The enemy has come to kill, steal, and destroy. If we allow him to, he will destroy our peace, joy, and hope. The Lord hears the righteous man when he calls for help, and saves him out of his troubles. The Lord is close to those whose hearts are breaking, He rescues those who are humbly sorry for their sins. The good man does not escape all troubles—he has them too. But the Lord helps him in each one. God even protects him from accidents (Psalm 34:17-19).

We are all engaged in spiritual warfare every day. We have to trust that God will protect what we hold dear. We have to hold Jesus close in our hearts and minds because He is our peace. Jesus said, “Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid (John 14:27).” God told Jeremiah, “For I know the plans I have for you. They are plans for good and not evil, to give you a future and a hope (Jeremiah 29:11).” We need to flee from temptation and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, and gentleness. Our number one goal should be to pursue Christ, not the things of the world, and follow Him in rigteousness.

Lakeside Baptist Church

Sunday morning, September 27, Bro. Glenn Jones led us in singing “TheOld Rugged Cross,” “He Whispers Sweet Peace To Me,” and“Amazing Grace.” Brother Shane Hyde blessed us by singing a special “I Know Who Holds Tomorrow.” Brother Marshall Yates brought the message from Genesis 3 and John 6:46-56. It all started in the Garden of Eden when Satan deceived Eve into thinking that what God said was not true and appealed to Eve’s desires, just as he does with people today. Adam complied with Eve, disobeyed God, and sin and death became earth’s realities. Satan comes to kill, steal, and destroy. Jesus came to bring abundant life to all those who trust and believe in Him (John 10:10). Brother Yates compared the tree of life with Jesus, the One who came so that we might have an abundant life here on earth and live with Him eternally in Heaven. All who believe that Jesus is the Son of God and turn from their sins to obey God will have eternal life with Jesus. We need to rely on Him as the source of life and be fully committed to Him. People can only experience life and joy when they decide to die to their self-centered existence and give complete control of their lives to Jesus. All who reject Him will have an eternal life separated from God in Hell. The choice is ours to make.

Sunday evening we made a joyful noise to the Lord, singing our favorite hymns. Brother David Essmeier’s message was based on a verse from the Lord’s model prayer to our Heavenly Father, “Your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in Heaven.”(Matthew 6:10). Your kingdom come refers to God’s spiritual reign in the lives of individuals and the final fulfillment of the kingdom of God when Christ returns in His glory and establishes a new world order (Isaiah 2:4, Micah 4:3), making everything new and setting everything right. The minute people accept Christ as their Lord and Savior, He takes residence in their hearts through God’s Holy Spirit. Until Jesus comes and sets up His kingdom on earth, we need to stand in faith, follow God’s will, and trust that He will guide and strengthen us in all we do for Him. We can find God’s will by praying, reading His Holy Word, and spending time with Him. His will is laid out in the Bible's guidelines. We need to continue asking, seeking, and knocking until we find His will for our lives (Matthew 7:7-8). God desires to be a part of our daily lives through every aspect of our lives. We need to trust in Him, walk by faith and not sight, and be fruitful. The blessings of God are found in His will.

We are excited and happy to announce that Bro. David Essmeier has accepted God’s call to be our pastor along with his wonderful wife Lisa, beginning November 1, 2026. Thank God for answered prayers. We love them both.

Lakeside Baptist Church

Sunday morning, September 20, Sister Sandie Blundell led us in singing “Victory in Jesus,” “Send the Light,” “When We All Get to Heaven,” and “Near the Cross.” Bro. Josh White’s message came from Revelation 20:11-15. Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ as the Son of God is the only way for us to receive God’s gift of salvation. There is no other way. There is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). Some people wonder why good people go to Hell. They have chosen to reject Jesus as the Son of God and depend on their own good works to earn their salvation. They don’t think about the fact that “God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son so that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but will have eternal life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world but that the world through Him might be saved (John 3:16-17).” As Christians, it should be our goal in life to show others God’s amazing grace by trusting and believing in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, who died for our sins, is interceding for us in Heaven, and is always there for those who love Him.

Sunday evening we sang our favorite hymns. Bro. David Essemeier’s message was entitled “The Water Still Flows” based on John 7:37-39. Are you looking for happiness, peace, joy, and freedom from doubts and fears? You will find all through trusting and believing in the Lord Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit flows through those who believe and trust in Him as their Lord and Savior. He will give us the peace that passes all understanding (Philippians 4:6b) and free us from all doubts and fears. Perfect love casts out all fear (1 John 4:18). He is our protector and provider. We have to guard our hearts so that nothing stands in the way of the living water that flows through us to touch the hearts of those who don’t know Jesus as their Lord and Savior. We can do this by reading the Bible, praying, and spending time with Him. When we pray, we should pray to God for who He is and not for what we want. He knows what we need before we ask Him and will supply all of our needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19). People of the world are looking for something to fill the emptiness in their souls and hearts. Nothing satisfies our soul and heart like Jesus. We need to let others see Jesus’ Holy Spirit flowing through our lives so they can find the living water He provides and be filled with Jesus’ Holy Spirit, filling the void in their lives.

Sunday morning, September 13, Bro. Shane Hyde led the praise session with favorite hymns. Our guest pastor, Bro. Josh White, brought the message, encouraging us through the difficult times we all face. He asked the thought-provoking question, “When we face darkness, how do we not worry or be afraid? God knows all of our problems. No problem is too small or too large for Him to help us overcome. He listens to our prayers when we come to Him with a clean heart and will deliver us from our troubles. Cast all of your care upon Him, for He cares for you (1 Peter 5:7). This simple but profound formula can stop worry in its tracks: “Don’t worry, pray!”

During the evening worship service, we sang our favorite hymns. We were blessed with Jerry Crooks and Vicky Waters singing “It’s a Beautiful Life” and Shane Hyde singing “The Wayfaring Stranger in honor of Doris Leeper.” Bro. David Essmeier’s message was from Romans 8:26-33. He reminded us that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose (Romans 8:28). If God is for us, who can be against us (Romans 8:31)? Nothing can separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord (Romans 8:38). If you are faced with seemingly insurmountable problems, don’t ever give up. He’s got you in the palm of His hand. God is watching out for you according to His will. He has a plan and a purpose for each one of us. Greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world (1 John 4:4b). In all things, we are more than conquerors through Him who loves us (Romans 8:37).

Sunday morning, September 6th, Shane Hyde led us in singing “Victory in Jesus,” “Near the Cross,” and “Amazing Grace.” Brother Josh White brought the morning message from Judges 17:1-6. Jesus said, “I am the Good Shepherd. The Good Shepherd gives His life for His sheep (John 10:10).” One of Jesus’ purposes as the Good Shepherd was that His sheep live life more abundantly. As followers of Christ, we need to be ready to tell others why we believe in Him and follow His teachings. We can do this by studying the Word of God and praying. Many today follow their own moral code, doing what is right in their own eyes, seeking fame and fortune, and not following God's will. We need to take a stand for what is right and be ready to share the Word of God in love, leading others to Him.

Sunday evening, Bro. David Essmeier’s message was from Matthew 4:1-10, describing the time Satan tempted Jesus in the wilderness. Jesus was tempted in every way we are tempted. Jesus overcame every temptation by quoting Scripture. When Satan tempts us, we can resist him as Jesus did by relying on God’s Holy Word. “Submit to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you. (James 4:7-8).” We need to be ready to share the love of God and point others to Jesus through prayer and spending time with God. Jesus is our hope. We need to put our hope and trust in Him. He is always with us to help us whenever we call on Him.

Lakeside Baptist Church

Sunday morning, August 9, Brother Josh White, brought us a message from the book of Revelation. Those who read the book of Revelation will receive peace that passes all understanding (Philippians 4:7). “Blessed are those who read and those who hear the words of Revelation, and keep those things which are written in it; for the time is near.” (Revelation 1:3) No one knows the day or hour Christ will return to earth for His children. “But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.” (Mark 13:32). It is our responsibility to remain watchful, pure, and ready. Christians have the responsibility to share the Word of God, defend the weak, and not be afraid to defend our church and our Lord. John assures us in Revelation that those who believe that Jesus is the Son of God will have eternal life. Jesus told the thief on the cross, “Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise.” (Luke 23:43)

The Bible warns individuals that they have only one chance to be reconciled to God before they face judgment: “And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment.” (Hebrews 9:27) The New Testament describes three major future judgments: the judgment seat of Christ (1 Corinthians 3:11-15), the judgment of nations described by Jesus (Matthew 25:31-46, and the Great White Throne judgment of Revelation 20. The time of the judgment seat of Christ occurs following the Rapture while the church is with Christ in heaven during the seven-year Tribulation on earth. The judgment of the nations takes place at the end of the Tribulation, just before the millennial kingdom, when Christ has destroyed the armies of the world that had attempted to destroy Israel. (Revelation 19:11-21) The Great White Throne judgment happens at the end of the Millennium.

Revelation 20 describes the Great White Throne judgment. In this final judgment of the unsaved, the Christian finds a hope for justice. When it seems that the wicked of the earth enjoy privileges (Psalm 73:3-18), and when it seems that those who mistreat us escape punishment, it takes only a reminder of the coming final judgment of the unsaved to make us give up thoughts of vengeance, hatred, or lack of forgiveness. Then, in front of His white throne, God will settle all accounts of those who would rebel against His righteous ways, making all things right.

Brother David Essmeier led the evening worship service, describing the life of Joseph from the book of Genesis from the time he was sold into slavery until he became the second most powerful man in Egypt, fulfilling God’s plan for his life to save people from a worldwide famine. God has a destiny He has planned for each one of His children. We all have detours in life which God allows to mature and strengthen us. God takes care of us in detours to prepare us to accomplish His purpose for our lives. All we need to do is trust and believe in Him, obeying Him in all things to follow His will.
We are not ready to handle God’s plan for our lives if we lack wisdom and are not spiritually mature. We can grow and mature and be fully equipped to accomplish God’s plan by reading the Word of God and trusting and believing in Him. Sometimes God allows us to be tempted to strengthen our character. If we follow Him in all that we think, say, and do, we will accomplish His plan for our lives. We need to wait for God’s perfect timing before we can take action to accomplish His will. Always remember, “And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:19)
