Lakeside Baptist Church

Sunday morning, August 9, Brother Josh White, brought us a message from the book of Revelation. Those who read the book of Revelation will receive peace that passes all understanding (Philippians 4:7). “Blessed are those who read and those who hear the words of Revelation, and keep those things which are written in it; for the time is near.” (Revelation 1:3) No one knows the day or hour Christ will return to earth for His children. “But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.” (Mark 13:32). It is our responsibility to remain watchful, pure, and ready. Christians have the responsibility to share the Word of God, defend the weak, and not be afraid to defend our church and our Lord. John assures us in Revelation that those who believe that Jesus is the Son of God will have eternal life. Jesus told the thief on the cross, “Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise.” (Luke 23:43)

The Bible warns individuals that they have only one chance to be reconciled to God before they face judgment: “And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment.” (Hebrews 9:27) The New Testament describes three major future judgments: the judgment seat of Christ (1 Corinthians 3:11-15), the judgment of nations described by Jesus (Matthew 25:31-46, and the Great White Throne judgment of Revelation 20. The time of the judgment seat of Christ occurs following the Rapture while the church is with Christ in heaven during the seven-year Tribulation on earth. The judgment of the nations takes place at the end of the Tribulation, just before the millennial kingdom, when Christ has destroyed the armies of the world that had attempted to destroy Israel. (Revelation 19:11-21) The Great White Throne judgment happens at the end of the Millennium.

Revelation 20 describes the Great White Throne judgment. In this final judgment of the unsaved, the Christian finds a hope for justice. When it seems that the wicked of the earth enjoy privileges (Psalm 73:3-18), and when it seems that those who mistreat us escape punishment, it takes only a reminder of the coming final judgment of the unsaved to make us give up thoughts of vengeance, hatred, or lack of forgiveness. Then, in front of His white throne, God will settle all accounts of those who would rebel against His righteous ways, making all things right.

Brother David Essmeier led the evening worship service, describing the life of Joseph from the book of Genesis from the time he was sold into slavery until he became the second most powerful man in Egypt, fulfilling God’s plan for his life to save people from a worldwide famine. God has a destiny He has planned for each one of His children. We all have detours in life which God allows to mature and strengthen us. God takes care of us in detours to prepare us to accomplish His purpose for our lives. All we need to do is trust and believe in Him, obeying Him in all things to follow His will.
We are not ready to handle God’s plan for our lives if we lack wisdom and are not spiritually mature. We can grow and mature and be fully equipped to accomplish God’s plan by reading the Word of God and trusting and believing in Him. Sometimes God allows us to be tempted to strengthen our character. If we follow Him in all that we think, say, and do, we will accomplish His plan for our lives. We need to wait for God’s perfect timing before we can take action to accomplish His will. Always remember, “And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:19)

We were blessed Sunday morning by Sandie Blundell who led us in singing praise songs to our Lord and Savior. Bro. Ernest Little’s message helped us understand what a Jesus’ Church is. A Jesus’ Church is (1) peaceful and free of trouble. Church members rejoice in doing things for the Lord and living like Jesus. (2) A Jesus’ Church is not prideful. Its foundation is Jesus Christ, the chief cornerstone that ensures those who take a stand for Christ God’s great love and saving grace. (3) A Jesus’ Church is powerful. Its members are empowered by the Holy Spirit to witness to a lost and dying world. (4) A Jesus’ Church is plentiful. God provides all of our needs according to His riches in glory. (5) A Jesus’ Church is prayerful. Jesus said, my house shall be a house of prayer (Matthew21:13). (6) The unchanging and eternal Word of God is explained in a Jesus’ Church. (7) A Jesus’ Church is a purposeful church. The purpose of a Jesus’ Church is to seek and save the lost. We are to witness to others wherever we go in His power and might. When we love others as Jesus loves us, they will want what we have that makes us different from the world and experience His love and amazing grace.

Sunday evening we sang our favorite hymns. A men’s quartet inspired us -- Jerry Crooks, Randy Conrad, Dennis Gourdon, and Ernest Little sang “Leaning on the Everlasting Arms.” Bro. David Essemeir, our guest preacher, spoke about our need for receiving the wisdom of the Lord. We need to seek wisdom to understand the will of God for our lives in our desire to love and honor Him and share the Good News. Wisdom is not available unless it comes from God. You can’t buy wisdom to make the right decisions. It is free in the Bible (Job 28:12). The Lord has all the answers to life. He is not only the beginning but the source of all knowledge and the only one who understands all mysteries. We are to fear the Lord or have an attitude of awe and respect for Him, seeking His will for our life in humility and spiritual perception through the guidance of the Holy Spirit who lives within all those who accept the Lord Jesus as their Lord and Savior. We need to ask the Lord what we can do for Him. We can find the answer to this question by reading the Word of God and praying. When we find the answer, we will live a fruitful and productive life.

Don’t Forget To Remember

We are so happy that you were able to celebrate Our Nation’s 250th Birthday with us today. Our theme for today’s celebration is “One Nation Under God.” We need to never lose sight of God’s goodness and faithfulness. God calls us to remember what He’s done for us and what He is doing for us. He gives us the opportunity—really the responsibility—to share those facts with others. As His children we need to remember who we are and who we belong to.

What are some things God has done in your life that you will always remember? What story, joke, or memory from your family often gets retold? My mother used to tell the story of the time when her sister and she were visiting their aunt and uncle in the country as young children. Her aunt told them that they could have all of the peanuts they wanted. All they had to do was go out in the field and gather them. She and her sister gleefully ran out to the garden to pick peanuts. They ran up and down the rows of peanuts but couldn’t find a single one. When they went back in downheartedly to tell their aunt they couldn’t find any peanuts, she laughed and told them to go back out and pull up the plants and they would find all of the peanuts they wanted.

Remembering how God has worked in our lives can give us confidence in God and help us to be faithful during difficult times. Sometimes God allows bad things to happen to good

people to strengthen us and turn us back to Him. We need to not forget to remember. We should never lose sight of God’s goodness and faithfulness. When we remember, it helps us to know God better and know that He is always there for His children. We need to not forget to remember.

God is always faithful and keeps His promises. He’s also all knowing and all powerful. Not only does He want to do the right thing for His people, but He is wholly able to. God does this for us because He loves us. But He also does what is right and good for us because He loves others. As the Lord shows Himself to be all powerful on our behalf, He displays His strength to all the people of the earth. He blesses us to be a blessing, and in the end, there will be people from every tribe, language, and nation gathered around God’s throne, worshiping Him.

Joshua 4:24 states the purpose of God’s miracle when the Lord parted the waters of the Jordan River for the people of Israel to walk across on dry land was “That all the people of the earth might know the hand of the Lord, that it is mighty: that you might fear the Lord your God forever.” To “fear the Lord your God” tells us what God wants for all people – to call Him Lord and to respond to Him with worshipful reverence.

Remembering what God has done for us can help us meet the challenges of following Jesus. Let’s always remember what God has done and is doing to gain our ultimate freedom.

In the New Testament we find God’s most significant reminder to remember His work. During Jesus’ last Passover meal with His disciples, Jesus took a loaf of bread and distributed it to each of His disciples (Luke 22:19-20). He told them that the bread represented His body that would be broken for them. Likewise, after supper He took the cup and said, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood, which is shed for you.” In most Christian churches, the cup of the Lord’s Supper is taken in remembrance of what Christ did for believers on the cross. For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death till He comes” again (1 Cor. 11:26). Jesus also used the cup to point to that future day when He would again drink it with His followers in Heaven. In this He established the long-awaited new covenant, which would mark the beginning of a new age (Jeremiah 31:31).

It’s also important that we not forget our fallen soldiers who sacrificed their lives and those men and women who are fighting today for our freedom.

Let’s never forget, freedom is not free.

Prayer: Father God, thank You for loving us. Help us to always remember your love and goodness. Keep our hearts turned toward You by remembering Your goodness and faithfulness. Guide us to see the opportunities to tell others what You’ve done for us.

Lakeside Baptist Church

We had a wonderful 250th Fourth of July celebration with our church family and friends sharing God’s goodness and faithfulness to our nation. We are “One Nation Under God” and continue to thrive under His guidance and protection by the power of His Holy Spirit.

Sunday morning we began our worship service with special praise songs “Mansion Over the Hilltop,” sung by Shane and Eason Hyde, father and son, and “God of the Mountain” sung by Evelyn and Shane Hyde, mother and son. Bro. Ricky Vines brought the morning message “Getting What You Want But Not Wanting What You Get” from Numbers 11:4-6. The Israelites complained about the manna God provided for them in the desert and lusted after the food they had in Egypt as slaves. God gave the people what they wanted—only He gave them so much that it became loathsome to them. Their complaining upset everything. We need to be careful what we ask for. Remember it’s not what we want but what God wants. He wants us to reach out to our neighbors in His love.

We were blessed during the evening worship service with Bro. David Essmier’s message from John 15:1-5. He reminded us that we need to be dependent on God as an individual, family and nation. We need to spend time with God every day reading and meditating on His Word and communicating with Him through prayer. Remember we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us (Philippians 4:13). Without Him we can do nothing (John 15:5). Sometimes God allows bad things to happen to good people to strengthen us and draw us closer to Him. We need to take a stand for what is right and good in the sight of the Lord. We never need to be afraid. Jesus is our Good Shepherd and will protect and guide us. We are safe in the arms of God.

Thanks to all that came out to the fish fry and Independence Day celebrations at lakeside. We appreciate all the sides , drinks, sweets , and salads that you all so graciously shared. And a special thank you to the Hyde’s for supplying and cooking the fish and hush puppies!!

And a special thank you as well for Sister Ann Crooks and her partners in crime for all the festive decorations and the show!!!!

It was all great!!

Lakeside Baptist Church

Sunday morning, June 28, our church family had a wonderful time singing praise hymns to the Lord. Bro. Glynn Jones led us in singing Higher Ground, He Set Me Free, The Star Spangled Banner, and The Battle Hymn of the Republic. We sang Happy Anniversary to one of our special young couples, Lucas and Kayden Hyde, celebrating their first anniversary. Lucas and Eason Hyde blessed us by singing Just a Little Talk with Jesus. We were honored to have Bro. Mac Brunson deliver the morning and evening messages. His morning message was based on Jeremiah 29:11. The Lord has a plan for everyone to give us a future and a hope. We can find the Lord’s plan for our lives by being sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit, so we will not miss His blessings. He will enable us to do whatever He wants us to do or wherever He wants us to go. We need to not rely on ourselves to win people to Christ but pray for those who don’t know the Lord or don’t have time for Him, and He will enable them to receive His blessings through believing in His Son, our Lord and Savior, who died for our sins so that we can be blessed with eternal life with Him.

During the evening service, we enjoyed singing our favorite hymns. Mona Lavasseur, Sandie Blundell, Vicki Waters, and Shane and Nancy Hyde blessed us by singing I Saw the Light. Bro. Brunson’s message came from Romans 8:14-17, 26-34, God’s promises to His children who are joint heirs with Christ Jesus, which demand that we live the life He wants us to live. Following the Holy Spirit’s leadership is proof that people are children of God. For believers, conviction of sin and a pattern of repentance are assurance of their own salvation (Hebrews 12:6). Sometimes people ask, "Why did God allow bad things to happen to me?" God allows challenges in our lives to strengthen us and to cause us to depend on Him in all of life’s challenges. When we have problems, we need to pray and turn to God’s Holy Word to receive the strength and guidance of His Holy Spirit. Remember, Jesus is sitting on the right side of God the Father interceding for us. And we know that all things work together for good to those who love the Lord and who are called according to His purpose (Romans 8:28).

Saturday, July 3rd, we will be celebrating the 250th Birthday of Our Nation. We will have a fish fry at 12:00 noon, followed by a special time to remember all our many blessings as citizens of One Nation Under God. All are invited to celebrate this special time with us.
