Today we begin the season of Lent—forty days that lead us toward Easter and the hope of resurrection.

In his Ash Wednesday meditation, Bishop Ken Carter invites us to see Lent as an interruption—a sacred pause in the busyness of life. A season to return to God with all our hearts (Joel 2), to practice stillness (Psalm 46), and to “seek first the Kingdom of God” (Matthew 6).

What might it look like for you to create space for God over the next forty days? Seven minutes of silence each day? Fasting from technology? Letting go of an attachment to make room for something better?

Lent is a gift. An invitation. A way into deeper awareness, renewed strength, and holy change.

Winter storms are here. I'm watching the snow outside my window, which is beautiful but not great for travel. Due to the snow, wind chill and cold, all Sunday morning activities including Sunday school, worship and United Women in Faith have been canceled for this coming Sunday, February 1. There will not be a YouTube recording. Please enjoy your sabbath rest at home and stay warm!
