Institute of the Good Shepherd North America / IBP The Institute of the Good Shepherd (IBP) is a society of apostolic life of Pontifical right founded on Sept. 8th 2006.

It provides the traditional Latin Mass in various places, parishes, schools and chaplaincy across the world. The Institute of the Good Shepherd is a Society of Apostolic Life of Pontifical Right established in 2006 under the pontificate and with the support of Pope Benedict XVI. The members of the Institute are secular priests, but live the common life in the houses of the Institute. The sacerdota

l spirituality of the Institute is based on the qualities of Jesus the Good Shepherd who does not cease to go after the lost sheep with a pastoral zeal filled with charity and mercy. The goal of the Institute is the sanctification of its members and the sanctification of the souls for the greater glory of God. The Institute of the Good Shepherd has for its specific mission, entrusted by the Holy See, the propagation within the Church of the liturgical and doctrinal treasures of the Catholic Tradition. To this end, the priests of the Institute are at the service of the dioceses to take on any type of traditional apostolate. Its mission is characterized firstly, by the exclusive use of the traditional roman liturgical books of 1962 (Extraordinary Form of the roman rite) in all of its liturgical acts. In the sense of the instruction Universae Ecclesiae (2011), the Institute aims to make accessible to all the faithful the richness of the Usus Antiquior, in order to take part in the renewal of Christian fervor as required for a re-evangelization which, to be fruitful, has to be rooted in Tradition. For the members of the Institute, the traditional liturgy and the theological formation based on the doctrine of Saint Thomas Aquinas - recommended so many times by the popes - are irreplaceable resources for the personal good of the priest and of the souls entrusted to him. The apostolate of the Institute is diverse comprising: parishes, chaplaincies, schools, spiritual retreats, charities, etc… Anything that aims to the good of the souls may be included in the ministry of our priests. Presently the Institute has houses in five countries: France, Poland, Italy, Brazil, and Colombia. And with your help, support and prayer in North America!

The Pope heard the pain and asked the bishops to generously include people attached to the Latin Mass. a first and necessary step for healing the wounds. The Pope calls for unity we all have been praying for years. Deo gratias.

Pope Leo XIV delivered a message to the French bishops during their Spring Plenary Assembly March 24–27 in Lourdes, France. Among his hopes: greater inclusion of those attached to the Traditional Latin Mass.

Meeting with the Holy Father

The Superior General of the Institute of the Good Shepherd, Father Luis Gabriel Barrero, met with His Holiness Pope Leo XIV on December 10 during a general audience.
He presented the Institute to the Holy Father and indicated that the IBP is at the service of the Holy See to contribute to a deeper understanding of the liturgical question related to the traditional rite, in accordance with the Holy Father's expressed wishes.

This meeting was followed by the IBP's jubilee pilgrimage, during which priests and faithful prayed for the Pope and the Church, passing through the Holy Doors and participating in several ceremonies celebrated in the major basilicas.

🇻🇦 Rencontre avec le Saint-Père

Le Supérieur général de l’Institut du Bon Pasteur, Monsieur l’Abbé Luis Gabriel Barrero, a rencontré Sa Sainteté le Pape Léon XIV le 10 décembre dernier à l’occasion d’une audience générale.
Il lui a présenté l’Institut et a indiqué que l’IBP se tenait à la disposition du Saint-Siège pour contribuer à l’approfondissement de la question liturgique liée au rite traditionnel, selon le souhait exprimé par le Saint-Père.

Cette rencontre a été suivie du pèlerinage jubilaire de l’IBP, au cours duquel prêtres et fidèles ont prié pour le Pape et pour l’Église, en franchissant les Portes saintes et lors de plusieurs cérémonies célébrées dans les basiliques majeures.

The Academic years resumed last month for seminarians. The new ones just finished their retreat: 17 new men entered amongst them 5 US citizens. This year is the largest with 51 seminarians in the house! Deo gratias!

La rentrée a sonné au séminaire Saint-Vincent-de-Paul ! 📚

16 nouveaux arrivants ont rejoint les séminaristes au début du mois d’octobre. Leur année de propédeutique a commencé par une retraite spirituelle, prêchée par deux moines de l’abbaye Saint-Joseph de Clairval à Flavigny.

Avec ces nouvelles vocations, le séminaire compte aujourd’hui 50 séminaristes de près de 20 nationalités différentes 🌎

L’Institut du Bon Pasteur se réjouit de toutes ces vocations et les confie à vos prières ! 🙏

The General Chapter of the Institute of the Good Shepherd began yesterday, Tuesday July 1, in Courtalain (France) and is expected to last around ten days. Every six years, the Chapter elects the Superior General and his assistants, and draws up a roadmap for the years ahead.

Let us pray that the Holy Ghost will inspire the discussions and decisions to come!
