Core Values Of The New Harmony United Methodist Church


1. The Bible is divinely inspired~the
Word of God~ and should be the
compass by which our lives are
directed. 2 Timothy 3:16-17

2. Our worship shall be Christ centered. Jesus Christ is to be the focal point
of our worship. In John 16:14, Jesus
said: "that even the Holy Spirit, when
He comes, will bring glory and

honor
to me."

3. Community. We believe that the
church is a place to love and be
loved, to know and be known, i.e.,
a family. We are the family of God,
and we pledge to provide care and
accountability to each other. We are
here to help "bear one another's
burdens". Galatians 6:2

4. Spiritual Gifts. We believe that God
has put within each of us gifts which
are to be used to minister to each
other, minister to our church, and
minister to the world. Our desire is
to provide a place where your gifts
and abilities can be identified,
developed and used for God's
purposes. Romans 12:6

5. Marriage and Family. We believe that marriage between
one man and one woman and family
are instituted by God (Genesis 2:24). Marriage is to be held in high
esteem. We pledge to provide a
place that encourages sacredness
and commitment to those
relationships.

6. Lost people matter to God and to us. Jesus' entire ministry was about
touching people and sharing His
message of love and salvation. We
are to do the same because we
realize that some one cared enough
to share the good news with us. Matthew 28:18

7. Discipleship. Jesus called His followers to be more
than just "born again". In Luke 9:23,
Jesus told His followers: "Take up
your cross and follow me". The
development of our walk with God
is a life long process, with many
peaks and valleys along the way. We here at New Harmony want to
assist you in your spiritual
development by providing an
atmosphere to encourage you
in your walk with God.
