God Meant It for Good

We wrapped up our God Meant It for Good sermon series this Sunday, finishing the book of Genesis along the way!

“Don’t be afraid… You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good.” Genesis 50:19,20

Evil doesn’t get the final word. Jesus does!

Joseph’s story reminds us of the reality of forgiveness and the freedom we have through the blood of Jesus. There will be things in this life that are hard to understand, things that leave us wondering why. But even when we can’t see the bigger picture, we can trust that God is still at work.

The kids reminded us this Sunday with their song, “God Keeps His Promises, Yes He Does!”What a good reminder for all of us!

The book of Genesis ends with Joseph in a coffin in Egypt. His story had come to an end, but God’s story was far from over. And the same is true today.

What a fun afternoon at Trunk or Treat! We loved seeing our South Wichita neighbors, sharing some smiles, and spending time together. Thanks to everyone who came out and to all who helped make it happen. We’re so thankful to be part of this community!

It was a great Sunday, and God is good! Carson preached about how much our lives can resemble Joseph’s, especially in the in-between seasons when it feels like the enemy is winning and we haven’t yet seen how God is working things for good. We also had the privilege of hearing testimonies of how God is at work in the lives of our church family!

It was an impactful Sunday morning as we gathered together to fellowship. One of our members, Sultan, shared his testimony about the Lord's impact and strength in his life. Many of us face challenges in our lives, but we can be reminded of this verse that Sultan shared

"Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid." - John 14:27

To end our service, we had Child Dedications! Children are an integral part of our church, and as such, we look forward to loving and encouraging these families as they commit to raising and teaching their children in the ways of the Lord.

This Sunday, we were reminded of the incredible way God works through broken, messy, and imperfect people to bring about His story. We read Genesis 48 and 49, focusing on the blessing Jacob gave Judah and how that blessing would play out throughout history.

Judah came from a complicated family, yet God chose his line to bring forth the Messiah. What a picture of grace.

God uses what is weak, broken, and fallen. Our sin and brokenness do not derail His purposes. In fact, as Scripture says, “where sin increased, grace increased all the more.” Romans 5:20. Even in our pain and weakness, God’s grace is sufficient. His love does not change, and His purposes are not undone by our brokenness.

The glory of God is revealed in His heart toward us. So wherever you find yourself today, run to the God who loves you. His story is bigger than your brokenness, and His grace is greater than your sin.

Today at church, we talked about Joseph and the way his life continually pointed people back to the greatness of God.

Even when Joseph was given opportunities to take the credit, he reminded people where his wisdom, strength, and purpose came from: God.

C.S. Lewis wrote:

“Men spontaneously praise whatever they value, and we also spontaneously invite others to join us in valuing it.”

What we value naturally comes out of us.

When we truly recognize how good God is, we can’t help but talk about Him, praise Him, and invite others to see His goodness too.

Joseph’s story reminds us that our lives can do the same. In the victories, the waiting, and even the difficult seasons, we can keep pointing people back to God.

May our lives make His goodness impossible to miss.

This Sunday, Kevin continued our series on Joseph's life in Genesis 46. We were reminded of the promise of God’s presence as Israel traveled to Egypt to meet his son Joseph.

“Sometimes the place you would never choose becomes the place where God does something you could have never produced yourself “

Kevin also gave an impressive, 10/10 reading of the lineage of Israel 😁

It was a lively and impactful service as we gathered together for Youth Sunday!

The youth worked hard and took the lead, using their gifts to help with worship, announcements, and speaking.

Some shared Scripture that has led them throughout their lives, and we heard powerful testimonies from some of the youth about struggles that were overcome through the strength of the Lord and with the help of the youth group community.

As reminded to us by some of our speakers, pray that the youth will rely on the Lord as they face challenges at school, work, and home, and that our youth group will continue to be a light in our church and throughout our community.
