Hey, everyone! My name is Makala Brashear. I am a wife, a mom to two littles, and now the high school youth leader at Summit Church in Whitesburg! I graduated from Jenkins Independent in 2021 and the University of Pikeville in 2025. Aside from leading the youth, I am also a new member of the worship team here!

Despite being raised in church, I knew more about the rules I was supposed to follow than I knew about our Savior. I was bound by religion and tradition. It wasn't until my freshman year of college that I realized the Lord desires a real relationship with each of His children. We were never meant to go through the motions and strive to be "good enough" to make it into Heaven. He wants us to know Him completely, and as we navigate His word together through this youth program, He will reveal His nature to us.
The more we know about Him, the more we will reflect His image.

It is my hearts desire to raise up disciples who boldly live out their God-given calling, unashamedly share the gospel, and are unwavering in their faith. I am confident that this generation will be the one to spring up revival in our area. We're praying and believing for it to be in Letcher County as it is in Heaven.

Ridgeline exists to equip students to walk the narrow path of Jesus with courage, conviction, and community. Built on the truth of God’s Word, bound together by His grace, we are sent to make disciples wherever He leads. Join us for youth on Thursday evenings at 6:30 starting with this kick-off event TOMORROW — open to all high schoolers!
