Sermon Recap | A Heart for God ❤️
Yesterday, through Mark 7, we were reminded that God looks beyond outward appearances. He desires to transform our hearts. Jesus shows us what that looks like through four prayers:
1. Lord, Reveal What Is Hidden in Me.
Jesus sees beyond our appearance. Instead of covering what’s happening inside with spiritual activity, we can invite Him to bring healing.
2. Lord, Teach Me Genuine Honor.
We can say and do the right things while our hearts remain far from God. True worship requires more than outward activity; it requires heart transformation.
This includes recognizing spiritual bypassing: using spiritual language to avoid issues we need to face. “I’m just going to pray about it” may be a good start, but God may also be calling us to process, have a conversation, forgive, set a boundary, apologize, or seek help.
3. Lord, Help Me Be Humble.
The Gentile woman didn’t allow offense to keep her from Jesus. Her humility made room for faith. Even when we don’t understand God’s ways, we can choose to trust Him.
4. Lord, Help Me Truly Hear You.
Jesus opened the ears of a man who could not hear. We also need ears to recognize God’s correction, comfort, and call to surrender.
The biggest takeaway: A heart God can transform is not one that merely looks right on the outside, but one willing to be searched, changed, humbled, and opened to Him.
