Sister Joan Kreyenbuhl joined Sharon Mendelson to craft birds out of toilet paper rolls. The bird shapes were prepared by stuffing the rolls with batting and hot gluing the edges together. One edge was rounded and a beak glued in place. Sister Joan painted the birds and glued on wiggly eyes and pipe cleaners for feet to complete the project.

Sisters gathered in the MSJ chapel for a performance by guest artist Dr. Gerald Lee. Dr. Lee is professor of piano at West Liberty University and has been a faculty member since 2002. He has three piano performance degrees and he has performed throughout the US. He performed songs by Franz Liszt, Ludwig van Beethoven, and Frédéric Chopin. Amazingly, all songs were played from memory and he used no sheet music.

Sisters Mary Clark, Alicia Weiskircher, Rosie Coughlin, and Joan Kreyenbuhl joined Sharon Mendelson to make homemade noodles. Flour, salt, eggs and water were combined to make a smooth dough. Sisters took turns putting the dough through a hand cranked noodle machine. It was fun and simple to make long fettuccini noodles by hand. The noodles were dropped into boiling chicken broth to cook and everyone enjoyed sampling the fresh noodles.

Sisters welcomed young dance students aged 9-14 years old from Dynamic Dance Force for a performance and to enjoy a dessert social in the lower level meeting room. The students performed solo and group dances, acrobatics, and tumbling. They and their family members as well as owner and director Cassidy Sansone joined Sisters afterwards for cupcakes and cheesecake from the Fat Apple Bakery. Thank you to Sisters Alicia Weiskircher and Joan Kreyenbuhl for assisting Sharon Mendelson in decorating the room with a gold background, silver stars and black silhouettes and arranging the tables and chairs.

On Thursday, May 14, Sisters gathered to welcome pre-school students from St. Michaell’s Parish for their end of the year Angel Academy graduation and then join them for lunch. Teachers Mary Murphy, Paula Foster, Diane Morgan, and Jen Shaw proudly led the eighteen students in a program called God Loves Me From A-Z. The little ones wiggled and sang to the songs Children of the Lord, This Little Light of Mine, He’s Got the Whole World in His Hands and more. These four and five year-olds will now move into kindergarten and the Sisters wish them all the best.
