Family Mass and Families in Service
Noah visited the Family Mass today! The musical play of Noah and the Ark presented at the Family Mass complete with an ark filled with (stuffed) animals. Father John reminded us of the many times we learn about the special relationship that God has with his people in Scripture. After fellowship families stayed for the Families in Service project, making pots of flowers for some of our homebound parishioners. The lady in the photo who received her flowers from Joe (Ms. Marchica's husband) is 99 years old! There were so many Blessings shared today.

Sunday Inspiration from St. Brigid/Our Lady of Hope School!

Today's Gospel Reading is Matthew 9:36-10:8
When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them because they were distressed and helpless like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is abundant, but the laborers are few. Therefore, ask the Lord of the harvest to send forth laborers for his harvest.”

Instructions to the Apostles: The Charter of the Apostolate
Chapter 10

Jesus Sends Out the Twelve Apostles. Calling his twelve disciples together, he gave them authority over unclean spirits, with the power to drive them out and to cure every kind of disease and illness.

These are the names of the twelve apostles: first, Simon, also called Peter, and his brother Andrew; James the son of Zebedee, and his brother John; Philip and Bartholomew; Thomas and Matthew the tax collector; James the son of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus; Simon the Zealot, and Judas Iscariot, the one who betrayed him.

These twelve Jesus sent forth after giving them the following instructions: “Do not travel to the territory of the Gentiles, and enter no Samaritan town. Go rather to the lost sheep of Israel. And as you go, proclaim: ‘The kingdom of heaven is near.’ Cure the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons. You received without payment; give in the same way.

May your Sunday and the coming week be filled with blessings!

Eighth Grade Dinner/Dance
The eighth graders enjoyed their dinner/dance at the recently opened Casa Kahlo Restaurant on Post Avenue in Westbury. They dined to while a Mariachi Band played, then the DJ took over. Parents and caregivers dined in the restaurant and joined their children at the end of the evening. Don't they look swell!

Eighth Grade Retreat
The eighth graders begin their Graduation Week by going on retreat to reflect on their time together at St. Brigid/Our Lady of Hope Catholic School as they prepare to leave as the alumni of the Class of 2026. They opened the letters that they wrote to themselves back in September. There were several activities. One reminded us that we are all connected. The other was a reflection on the Gospel of the day, the Beatitudes! We attended the 12:10 Parish Mass and enjoyed pizza for lunch on Post Avenue.

Sixth Graders Visit Hope House Ministries
Father John's Sixth Grade religion class recently visited Hope House Ministries in Port Jefferson. Hope House is where Father John volunteers and counsels residents each Friday. Friday is "Earth Day," at Hope House, when everyone pitches in to clean. The sixth graders really got into it. They got to explore the beautiful grounds, which are magnificent. The students got to hear the testimony of residents. They spoke candidly about the decisions they made, which led them into addiction. They also spoke about the recovery they experienced at Hope House. Finally, the sixth graders joined residents for Mass, celebrated by Father John. This was a memorable trip on many levels.

Buddy Bench Dedication
Our Student Council recently dedicated a Buddy Bench to two deceased members of our school family. With family members present, Father John blessed the bench. If anyone is sitting on the Buddy Bench alone, someone else is supposed to join them. The idea is that no one is alone. Our buddies Paolo Michelotto and Timothy Kroll, who left us way too soon, are always with us.
