The Board of World Mission is seeking applicants to fill the position of Director of Mission Outreach. This is a full-time, remote position with frequent travel required. Applications will be accepted by BWM Executive Director Justin Rabbach via email – [email protected]. Please include your resume, a cover letter, and a list of three references with contact information.

Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis beginning October 15th, 2026.

Position Summary: The Director of Mission Outreach (DMO) serves as the Board of World Mission’s (BWM’s) point person for its global mission partnerships and is the lead staff person guiding the Moravian Church in North America’s response to human migration. This is a full-time position reporting to the executive director of the BWM and working in close coordination with BWM staff and the Provincial Elders’ Conferences (PECs) of both Northern and Southern Provinces. Mission Outreach is a core part of the work of the BWM — the intentional focus of our effort to be faithful to the Great Commission and to the scriptural mandate to welcome the stranger (Matthew 25:35). Human migration has become one of the defining humanitarian and missional realities of our time, and these global patterns are increasingly present in Moravian congregations across North America. At the same time, the worldwide Moravian Unity continues to grow, with new and emerging partnerships requiring dedicated staff capacity to nurture them well. The DMO carries both callings: leading the Church’s faithful response to human migration and accompanying the BWM’s global partners.

In recent days, a catastrophic flash flood struck a remote, mountainous region of northern Nepal, devastating communities across the affected area. As of this writing, authorities report significant loss of life and widespread need in the area.

We are grateful to report that this event did not directly impact the Moravian community in Nepal. The main Moravian presence in the country is centered in and around Kathmandu, a considerable distance from the flood-affected region, and our Moravian contacts there have confirmed that they are safe and that no Moravian members or properties were directly affected.

While Moravians were spared the direct impact of this flooding, our Moravian contacts in Nepal have communicated that communities in the affected areas have suffered greatly. The most up-to-date information comes from ecumenical partners, who have shared that a number of churches have sustained damage, and many pastors, members, and others in these communities are reported missing or among those who have lost their lives. An ecumenical call for aid has been raised in the area to help provide food, shelter, and other essential support to grieving and displaced families.

As the situation continues to develop, the Board of World Mission is in close contact with our Moravian partners at the British Mission Board, who will be coordinating the global Moravian response to this disaster. We stand ready to collaborate as the needs become clearer. In the meantime, we ask that you hold the people of Nepal in your prayers—especially those who have lost loved ones, homes, and places of worship—during this difficult time.

Mens Trip!!

Four guys from Southern Illinois headed down to Appalachia for a few days of riding, and what a trip it was!

We rented a cabin for three nights at Hollow Ground and spent our days riding the trails at Ride Royal Blue. We saw some absolutely beautiful country, tackled some rough terrain, saw a little wildlife, and had plenty of laughs along the way. Of course, there were also a few frustrations, because if everything goes perfectly on a trail ride, you probably aren't having enough fun! 😂

Three nights of good riding, good scenery, good friends, and plenty of memories made.

And you can't make a trip through Tennessee without stopping at Buc-ee's on the way home! 😂

Great trip with a great group of guys from the church. 🏔️🏁
