As part of the Blessings Flow project, respondents are surveyed on the prevalence of various waterborne illness symptoms, including diarrhea, one of the most common. At both distribution and follow-up, respondents reported whether any member of their household had experienced symptoms in the past two weeks. From distribution surveys to follow-up, there was a substantial reduction in diarrhea rates and other health symptoms.
In this graph, communities with follow-up data are ordered by decreasing prevalence at distribution. Diarrhea rates decreased across all communities with available follow-up data, except Tumtum Tara, which had few follow-up surveys collected under poor conditions (note the wide confidence interval).
Thank you to One ATTA Time and Aquora Research & Consulting for compiling the data from Blessings Flow water filter surveys, distributions, and follow-up visits. You can find the full report on our website: https://www.moravian.org/mission/2026/03/20/blessings-flow/.
