While some students did floor work, other students stained bed frames for our "Rest on Hope" ministry. Painting is an important skill and also can be relaxing. Having students explore different types of jobs and careers is part of the DLA (Daytime Leadership Academy) objective.

We often think about volunteering as helping others grow and change. However, it's more than that. Volunteering nurtures the fruits of the Spirit by actively pushing the volunteer to practice love, patience, and kindness through selfless service to others. The volunteer often has to step out of their own routine to help others, the Holy Spirit uses those real-world interactions to cultivate virtues like humility, joy, peace, and self-control. Volunteering is not necessarily what you are doing for others but what God is doing in you.
