Please see the message below the Order of the Liturgy for your reference and information:

Palm Sunday of the Passion of the Lord begins with the Commemoration of the Lord’s Entrance into Jerusalem—featuring the blessing of palms, a Gospel reading (Matthew 21:1-11, Mark 11:1-11a, or Luke 19:29-40), and a procession.

The Holy Mass then focuses on the Passion Narrative, including Isaiah 50, Philippians 2, and a Gospel reading of the Passion.

1. The Commemoration of the Lord's Entrance
• Gathering: Usually held outside the church or in a smaller area.
• Antiphon/Hymn: "Hosanna to the Son of David" or "All glory, laud and honour".
• Greeting & Address: Priest greets the people and briefly explains the celebration.
• Blessing of Branches: Prayer of blessing over the palm/olive branches.
• Gospel of Entrance: Matthew 21:1-11 (Year A), Mark 11:1-11 (Year 😎, or Luke 19:29-40 (Year C).
• Procession: Faithful enter the church, usually singing, symbolizing following Christ.

2. The Mass
• Collect (Opening Prayer): Focusing on the Passion and Resurrection.
• Liturgy of the Word:
◦ First Reading: Isaiah 50:4-7 (The suffering servant).
◦ Responsorial Psalm: Psalm 22 ("My God, my God, why have you abandoned me?").
◦ Second Reading: Philippians 2:6-11 (Christ humbled himself).
◦ The Passion Gospel: The reading of the Lord's Passion according to Matthew, Mark, or Luke.
• Homily
• Profession of Faith (Creed)
• General Intercessions (Universal Prayer)
• Liturgy of the Eucharist

This 20th day of March, I celebrate my 29thSacerdotal Anniversary. It is the day (March 20, 1997) that I received the gift of ordination to the priesthood.
It takes the hand of God and His grace to reach this age and celebrate this special day as a great milestone in my life as a priest. It is indeed an appropriate time to thank the Lord for His goodness and blessings. It is also an opportune time to kneel down in prayer to ask Him to give me the courage, strength, commitment and fidelity to live the priestly vows and ministry that He entrusted to me in my ordination.
I would like to ask you to join me in thanking God for this wonderful gift of priesthood. This gift of vocation is a sign of God’s love and service because through His priests He continues His Mission and Ministry to serve God, the Church and His people.
I thank you for all your prayers, care and support for all these years and the years to come. I thank everyone especially my family, my friends, “my kababayans” (Filipino Community), my parish community and the Catholic Churches in McDowell and Wyoming Counties, as well as the people I serve and minister in the prison ministry. I also thank Bishop Brennan who serves as my spiritual father and a chief shepherd in the Diocese of Wheeling-Charleston here in West Virginia together with my brother priests in the Beckley Vicariate with Very Rev. Leonard Smith as my Vicar Forane and the entire clergy and presbyterium in our Diocese.
I pray that Jesus the Good Shepherd and High Priest will continue to renew, increase, and strengthen in me the graces I received at ordination as I carry out His sacred ministry in the Holy Church.
May St. Joseph, the Blessed Virgin Mary, and St. Peter, the prince of the Apostles guide and protect the priests and all the clergy in their ministry and chosen vocations.
“Tu es Sacerdos in Aeternum!” (You are a priest forever!)
