He will be highlighting the 100th anniversary of our Synod’s college, how BLC prepares students to recognize today’s tests to their faith and be prepared to answer the challenges, and take a look into the future of higher ed and learn what it will take to endure another 100 years of a Christ-centered education. A Prayer on the 25th Anniversary of the 9/11 Terrorist Attacks

Gracious Father, creator and sustainer of all things, on this anniversary of terror and violence, we come to you in repentance, recognizing our own sinfulness and weakness. Forgive us our many sins. In your mercy, grant to our nation peace and protection from all our enemies, both physical and spiritual. Defeat the plans of the wicked who would bring terror and destruction to our society and to the world. Give knowledge and wisdom to our leaders, that they may serve our people with honesty and honor. Give courage and strength to all who protect us in our communities, our country and our world. Bring the light of the Gospel, through the Holy Spirit, to all who serve false gods and live in the darkness of unbelief and fear. Bless us, that we may serve you and bring your word of forgiveness and salvation in Christ to all people- even our enemies- that all may know the eternal peace you grant to your faithful. In the name of the Lord and Savior of all, Jesus, Christ, we pray. Amen.

The entire Bible is the story of God’s love for the world. When Adam and Eve fell into sin, bringing death and destruction, God promised a Savior. “And I will put enmity Between you and the woman, and between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise His heel” (Genesis 3:15). God promised a Savior, born of a woman, who would crush Satan’s head. The bruising of the heel refers to Jesus’ suffering and death on the cross, but he would come out of the battle victorious. On the third day, he would rise showing his victory over sin, death, and the devil. When Jesus came into this world, born of Mary, to suffer and die, it was the fulfillment of God’s promise. In fact, the entire Bible is a wonderful history showing how God kept his promise - from Adam to Abraham to Moses to David to Isaiah to Ruth to Mary. And now, by faith, you have become a part of that story because you are one of those to whom God has made his promise. “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life” (John 3:16).

Sometimes people can be worried about going to Bible Study because they are afraid they won't know an answer to something or they will have to read something out loud. Don't let that prevent you from coming. We all come to learn! Maybe these notes will put you at ease.

Things Pastor won't ask you to do:
- Make you read out loud (unless you want to)
- Answer questions on the spot (unless you want to)

Things Pastor will do:
- Help you grow in your knowledge of God's Word
- Answer your questions (to the best of his abilities)
