Walk In Solidarity June 20 World Refugee Day
Did you know that the average speed a human walks is three miles an hour? This means that Jesus also walked at this pace during his time on earth. If Jesus walked slowly at three miles per hour, then it is the speed at which God walks with us in love.
God walks “slowly” because he is love. If he is not love he would have gone much faster. Love has its speed… It is the speed we walk and therefore it is the speed the love of God walks.

If this is how God moves, then this is how we choose to move, walking in step with those who are displaced, detained, and deported. During Refugee Awareness Month, we’re focusing our attention, prayers, and advocacy on refugees and others who seek safety outside of their home countries. In a time when policies increasingly harm these communities within our own borders, we stand with - and walk for - those who are displaced, detained, and deported.
What can you do? Walk 1 mile, 3 miles or gather at church to pray and contemplate the journey of those who seek a permanent place to call home and be safe. Gather at 8:30 at church on June 20. Watch this site for more information over the next 2 weeks.
