Waukegan Church of Christ

Waukegan Church of Christ Continuing the work of Jesus The churches of Christ today are modeled after the original church established by Jesus Christ and the apostles.

Before Jesus died on a Roman cross, he taught his disciples how God wanted them to live their lives. He taught them how the law was fulfilled through him. He taught them how to please God. This includes how to worship him without compromising the gospel. Jesus was the perfect example of how to resist sin and live our lives. Through Jesus' death, burial and resurrection we understand that the church was first established in Acts chapter 2. The church of Christ continues to make every effort to worship God in accordance with God’s will as recorded by his word in the first century. We believe that God is very pleased with those who hold closely to his word. Jesus wanted his church to be loving and sincere in their worship, and he also said we must worship in spirit and truth (John 4:24). He wants us to be caring and compassionate towards one another. He calls for us to have purity of heart. We believe that when you visit the church of Christ, you will see the pure and simple church that he promised to build (Matthew 16:18).

Many view God as a gentle figure, but the biblical reality of his nature is more complex than a simple narrative suggests.

We explore why difficult biblical passages are essential for a complete understanding of divine character. Rather than ignoring the intense descriptions found throughout scripture, we examine how these texts challenge our perceptions and provide a fuller picture of who God is. By engaging with these harder concepts, you can develop a more robust theological framework that accounts for the totality of the biblical text.

This analysis is for anyone seeking to move beyond surface-level interpretations of scripture. We address the tension between perceived kindness and the rigorous demands of divine justice, helping you reconcile these often opposing ideas. Understanding the bible series reality allows you to approach your study with greater depth and confidence in the face of challenging verses.
