THE OTHER SIDE
He who calls you is faithful; he will surely do it. 1 THESSALONIANS 5:24 ESV

In Mark 4, Jesus says to His disciples, “Let us go over to the other side [of the lake]” (v. 35). Jesus and His disciples then climbed into the boat and pushed off from the shore.
No sooner did they get to the middle of the lake than a great windstorm arose. The waves were crashing into the boat, and fear was beginning to flood the disciples’ hearts. And Jesus? Jesus was at the stern of the boat, taking a nap. Does it ever seem like when you need God the most, He’s having a nap? The disciples woke Jesus up and said, “Master, do You not care that we are perishing?” (v. 38). Jesus rebuked them, saying, “Why are you so timid and fearful? How is it that you have no faith (no firmly relying trust)?” (v. 40). In other words, check your attitudes. Jesus had said they were going to the other side, and even though they ran into a storm on their journey, His word was true. Two verses later, in Mark 5:1, the Bible says, “They came to the other side of the sea.” When God says, “Let us go over to the other side,” no storm in the middle can stop you from reaching your destination, hold on and don’t give up!
I recall the words of a chorus we would sing at my dads bile study:

God said it and I believe it
And that settles it for me
God said it and I believe it
And that settles it for me
Though some may doubt that His Word is true
I've chosen to believe it, now how about you?
God said it and I believe it
And that settles it for me.

PRAYER FOR TODAY: God, help me hold on to Your promises. If You said it, I believe it. I won’t give up in the middle; that is when I will cling to my faith and trust that it will happen in Your way and timing. Amen

AN ATTITUDE OF EXCELLENCE

His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence. 2 PETER 1:3 ESV

God’s Word has so much to say about our everyday lives. It teaches us how to conduct ourselves—at the grocery store, in traffic, at home, and at work. In all these areas, God desires that we have an attitude of excellence. Living with an attitude of excellence means being authentic and honest. It means not taking home paper clips or other supplies from the office or scrolling through social media while you are on the clock. It means believing the best of the person who cuts you off in traffic and taking that extra step to return your grocery cart where it belongs. You might think these things are inconsequential, but God cares about our attitudes in the little things and the big ones. When you do something you know is wrong, even if you pretend it’s okay, even if everyone else is doing it, it still leaves a heaviness on the inside of you. There’s no greater satisfaction than lying down at night knowing that even though we may not have been perfect, we did our best to honor God throughout the day. That feeling of peace and contentment can’t be matched by anything else.

PRAYER FOR TODAY: God, I will do my best every day to have an attitude of excellence. Show me where I need to grow in this area, and bring encouragers into my life

KEEPING OUR FOCUS ON CHRIST

And set your minds and keep them set on what is above (the higher things), not on the things that are on the earth. COLOSSIANS 3:2
What goes on in our mind affects us more than we can imagine. Our thoughts have the power to direct you toward your dreams or to keep you stuck in a place you don’t want to be. We often talk about what not to do or say or think, you see….. we should put a greater emphasis on what to do and say and think. Colossians 3:2 says to set our mind (our thinking) and keep it set on right things. If our minds are full of right things, then when the challenge comes along, they can be seen as the “truth” sees them. In other words, if we are thinking right thoughts, there won’t be room for wrong thoughts.
That’s exactly what Jesus did, He saw the solution as a kingdom promise. I call that “Kingdom Living”. Here is a thought: Jesus thought it so much that his whole body represented God giving life, he never prayed for the woman with the issue of blood. She just touched Him and Gods life flowed into her. Jesus was consumed with Gods living truth and when there was a demand placed on it, it instantly flowed into her body and healed her. Her faith was the conduit of healing, she thought and spoke one truth…”If I can but touch His garment I will be healed”.
In Faith she acted on the truth in her mind!
So, set your mind where you want to go, not where you’ve been or where you are right now. Have a vision for your life. Have a vision for your family. And keep your thoughts set on that.

PRAYER FOR TODAY: God, “I will” set my mind on Your truth. Holy Spirit lead me and remind me of what Jesus has accomplished for me, for I believe You have a good and perfect plan for my life, and my future. Amen.

THE BIBLE SAYS

Now to Him Who, by (in consequence of ) the [action of His] power that is at work within us, is able to [carry out His purpose and] do superabundantly, far over and above all that we [dare] ask or think [infinitely beyond our highest prayers, desires, thoughts, hopes, or dreams]. EPHESIANS 3:20

The Bible is our ultimate guide to discerning right from wrong thinking. For example, the next time you think It’s too late for me, tell that thought to get out of your mind. You won’t find that thought anywhere in the Bible. The Bible says that the vision comes at the “appointed time” and “If it seems slow, wait for it” (Habakkuk 2:3 ESV). Have you ever thought I’m no good; I’ll never do anything right; I’m a mess!? Well, guess what? That’s not in the Bible, either. In fact, the Bible says you are precious, special, and created in God’s image, and He’s got a good plan for your life. Is the enemy whispering that you’ll never have enough or always be lacking? That’s a lie. The Bible says God promises to supply all your needs through Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19). Don’t repeat the enemy’s lies—speak God’s truth instead: “My God is able to do exceedingly, abundantly above all I could ask or imagine. He will provide what I need—and more—so I can generously bless others.” Start aligning your thoughts and words with His truth, and watch as His promises begin to unfold in your life!

PRAYER FOR TODAY: God, thank You for pointing me to the truth found in Your Word. I hold on to the promise that at the right time, I will reap a harvest of good things. Amen.

WOULDA, SHOULDA, COULDA
Do not [earnestly] remember the former things; neither consider the things of old. Behold, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs forth; do you not perceive and know it and will you not give heed to it? I will even make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert. ISAIAH 43:18–19

In today’s verse, God says, “I am doing a new thing!” Right now, He is doing a new thing in your life. Cooperate with Him by saying “Something good is going to happen for me today. God is doing a new thing in my life.” Hebrews 11:15 says, “If they had been thinking of that land from which they had gone out, they would have had opportunity to return”. In other words, if our minds are fixated on the past, we’ll find ourselves constantly drawn back to it. I don’t know about you, but I don’t want to revisit all my failures and all my mistakes and all the things I woulda, shoulda, coulda done. Don’t waste any more of your time thinking about all the things you wish you would’ve done or the things you wish you wouldn’t have done. You see holding on to “your” past will cost you “your” future. Commit to start doing the right thing.
PRAYER FOR TODAY: God, thank You for doing a new thing in my life. The old is gone; the new is come. You are for me and not against me. The past is in the past. Your plans for my life are good. Amen.

CHANGE BEGINS IN THE MIND

You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness. EPHESIANS 4:22–24
A change of behavior is directly related to a change of mind. If you have a behavior that you want to change, mere effort won’t get it done. The only person who can really change you is God Himself. His part is to do the work; your part is to believe and be obedient to renew your mind with His Word.
Ephesians 4:22 says, “You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires” . Verse 24 says, “and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness”.
So, the instruction is to stop living the way you used to, because in Christ, you are a new creation. Your old self was crucified with Him, and now you’re called to live in the new life He’s given you. I know you want to, but maybe you are wondering how. The answer is in verse 23: “And be constantly renewed in the spirit of your mind [having a fresh mental and spiritual attitude].” Renew your mind and your attitude daily. The right mindset will help you do all things through Christ, who is your strength.

PRAYER FOR TODAY: God, thank You for giving me a fresh mental and spiritual attitude when I refresh my spirit with Your Word. Change me into Your image, the person You want me to be. Amen.

“REMAIN STABLE”

There is no one holy like the Lord; there is no one besides you; there is no Rock like our God. 1 SAMUEL 2:2
As a believer in Jesus and His Completed work, our mind, and emotions, need to be focused on Him.
I’m reminded of what Jesus went through when he went to the Garden of Gethsemane ( literally means “oil press”) on the Mount of Olives to pray on the night before His crucifixion. It was a time of intense emotional anguish where He submitted to the Father's will. He experienced so much anguish, scripture accounts “He sweat drops of blood”
The medical field explains it as: Intense Stress: Extreme psychological stress, terror, or severe anxiety that triggers the body's fight-or-flight response. His humanity, and this was just His mental response. His physical torment was yet to come.
His SPIRIT man quickly responded to the commitment he held in His heart….. “nevertheless not my will, not my feelings, not my emotions, not my purpose but Your will be done.

The good news is that through the power of the Holy Spirit, We can decide to think right, to talk right, and to not let our moods and attitudes control us.

Jesus, our unshakable Rock, epitomizes stability, steadfastness, unwavering love, positivity, and constant joy. We can be an example to the people in our life, we can remain stable and happy by knowing who we are in Christ.

PRAYER FOR TODAY: Lord, grant me the serenity to remain calm in times of adversity. Guide me in the journey of living, thinking, and speaking in alignment with Your Word. In Your name I pray, amen.

HOPE IN GOD’S LOVE

But the eyes of the Lord are on those who fear him, on those whose hope is in his unfailing love. PSALM 33:18
People put their hope in all kinds of things—wealth, intellect, abilities, jobs, connections, possessions, and human relationships. But godly hope is not the same as what the world calls hope. The world hopes for snow on Christmas and for their team to win the game, but true biblical hope is solid and based on confidence in God’s character. We demonstrate our hope by believing in our heart that regardless of what is happening, God loves us and is able to change things for the better. As it says in Matthew 19:26, all things are possible with God. We also know from countless verses throughout the Bible that God loves us and is always working for our good. Choosing to believe these truths establishes a solid foundation for our hope in every situation.

PRAYER FOR TODAY: Thank You, God, that I can rest in Your unfailing love as I hope confidently in You. In Jesus’ name, amen.

IT’S A CHOICE
This day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live. DEUTERONOMY 30:19
No one is born knowing how to manage their emotions, but we all can learn to do it. Making healthy, godly decisions when we feel like doing something else is vital to enjoying a victorious life. In Deuteronomy, God tells His people to “choose life.” As we do, we learn day by day how to make life-giving decisions. And as we study and obey His Word, we find peace, joy, and stability.
PRAYER FOR TODAY: Thank You, Father, for Your Word and for the ways it teaches me to choose life. Amen.

CONDUCT AND CONVERSATION

Blessed (happy, fortunate, to be envied) are the undefiled (the upright, truly sincere, and blameless) in the way [of the revealed will of God], who walk (order their conduct and conversation) in the law of the Lord (the whole of God’s revealed will). PSALM 119:1

What we say is important. The power of our words cannot be underestimated. Our words are direct reflections of our hearts and guide our actions. Choosing to think and speak positively lays the foundation for doing what is right. Our declarations shape our beliefs and, in turn, influence our lives and the those around us. If I say I cannot do something, I probably won’t do it. But if I say I can do something, then actually doing it becomes more likely.
The more we say something, the more we believe it ourselves, because we hear and feed on our own words. Search God’s Word to see what it says about you, and then align your conversations around His word . Declare God’s Word until you believe it, then speak it in faith and watch what God will do in your life.

PRAYER FOR TODAY: Lord God, I embrace the truth of Your Word. I align my words with what You say about me. In the powerful name of Jesus I pray, amen.
