God chose you.

He chose us in Christ, actually selected us for Himself as His own before the foundation of the world. Ephesians 1:4.

I want to remind you of something today. You are no surprise to God. He knew what He was getting when He chose you, and He chose you anyway. The Bible says that God actually selected us for Himself as His own. It is no accident that you are a son and daughter of God, and He doesn’t just put up with you or merely tolerate you.

He gladly chose you because He adores you. God already knew your weaknesses, every flaw you would have, every time you would fail, and He still said, “I want you.” Ephesians 1:5 declares that you are adopted as His own. God is your perfect, loving Father. With Him on your side, you can be assured things will always work out well in the end.

Today’s thought: You can’t bother God. You can’t impose on Him. He’s not frustrated with you when you have a problem. Instead, He’s always there to meet you with open arms, ready to redeem you of how far you have come, how precious you are in His sight, and how much He loves you. Let’s dig deeper into God’s Word.

Study and review Deuteronomy 10:15 and Mark 13:20.

My Apologies for the lack of daily devotions for Monday and Tuesday,
Jo and I went on a mini Vacation for my 70th birthday. Thank You Jesus.

Making a list of your blessings.

“Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good. For His compassion and loving kindness endure forever.” Psalm 107, verse 1. Each and every moment we’re given is a precious gift from God. We can choose to have a grateful attitude and live each moment full of life, joy, simply because God is good, and He has given us so much to be thankful for. Here is a short list of things that we can thank God for each and every day.

Your family, your home, the friendships in your life, the issues and situations that God has brought you through, clean water, your gifts and talents, the word of God, and God’s unconditional love for you. This is just a small start. Add to this list as you go through the day, thanking God for each and every blessing in your life.
Today’s thought: There is no downside to gratitude. It’s one of the healthiest, most joy-filled attitudes you can have.

So what are you waiting for? The best time to be thankful is always right now. Let’s dig deeper into God’s word. Study 1 Thessalonians 5, verse 18, and Psalm 1, verses 1 through 3.

Trust. God is trustworthy.

“When I am afraid, I will put my trust and faith in you.” Psalm 56:3.
One of the most beautiful things about your life in God is that you can trust Him. Trusting God is an amazing benefit, but it’s something we decide to do by faith, not something we necessarily feel. Trust is what makes a relationship safe and reliable. Think about it this way.
We put money in a bank because it has a good reputation, and we decide to trust the institution to keep our money safe. God has a much better reputation than even the best bank in the world. So we can surely decide to deposit our lives with Him and put our total trust in Him. You can trust God to understand whatever you may be going through, because He understands you better than you understand yourself.

You can trust Him to help you through any storm, to never reject you, to always be there for you, to be on your side, and to love you unconditionally. He is trustworthy, and He will never let you down.

Today’s thought: Others may have violated your trust, but God never will. Open your heart to Him and choose to put your trust in Him and in His great love for you. The more you trust Him, the better you will be.

Let’s dig deeper into God’s Word. Review and study Psalm 119:138 and Psalm 33:4.

The source of true joy.

“You have turned my mourning into dancing for me. You have taken off my sackcloth and clothed me with joy.” Psalm 30:11
It brings incredible joy when you embrace the truth that you are forgiven and an adored son and daughter of God. So why are so many Christians sad, frustrated, and miserable? I personally believe it’s because they do not understand the reality of being a child of God and the inheritance that is theirs in Him.

An obstacle or difficulty distracts them. They simply forget the promises of God for their lives. This is the quickest way to live a sad life instead of a glad life. Jesus did not die to give you a discouraged, defeated, down life. He is the glory and the lifter of your head, Psalm 3, verse 3. God has given you everything you need to enjoy Him, to enjoy yourself, and the life He has given you. So look up today.

Celebrate His goodness and His blessings in your life. You are a child of the King. Let that fill your heart with joy.

Today’s thought: Joy is independent of your circumstances. True joy is found in knowing Christ and the hope that He offers us. Take hold of His promises and walk in gladness, regardless to the circumstances around you.

Let’s dig deeper into God’s Word. Study and review 1 Thessalonians 2, verse 20, and Isaiah 29, verse 19. Give thanks for what He has done.

The right kind of thoughts.

“For as he thinks in his heart, so is he.” Proverbs 23:7.

The thoughts we allow ourselves to dwell on will set the direction of our lives. A phrase that I’ve often shared with you is, “You will always move in the direction of your most dominant thought. This is why I often say, “Where the mind goes, the man follows.” If we have negative mind, we will have negative life.

On the other hand, if we renew our mind according to God’s word, we will experience the good, acceptable, and perfect will of God for our lives. Romans 12:2. Our struggles and our triumphs are rooted in thinking patterns. Negative thoughts produce discouragement, doubt, and fear, but we don’t have to live captive to those thoughts. We can choose to line our thoughts up with the word of God. The mind is a battlefield.

Ask God to give you the strength to help you start winning the battle today. Decide to resist negative thinking and dwell on positive, faith-filled, godly thoughts and promises for your life instead.

Today’s thought: The more you change your mind for the better, the more your life will also change for the better, for you will always move in the direction of your most dominant thought. Let’s dig deeper into God’s word.

Study 2 Corinthians 10:5 and Colossians 3:2.

Set a goal.
“I press on toward the goal to win the heavenly prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 3:14.
Setting daily goals helps you see certain dreams come true. That’s because dreams are realized one step at a time, one decision at a time, and one goal at a time. Goals are essential if you want to be successful in life. It is pointless and even frustrating to have a big dream for your future, or even a small plan for the day, without setting goals on how you expect to see those goals come true.

When you have a goal and move with a purpose, good things will happen for you. You may not know how everything is going to work out. You may not have all the answers for the day ahead. But if you set a goal, you’ll be amazed at how helpful it can be in improving your outlook for the day ahead.

Today’s thought: whether you’re a stay-at-home parent, a full-time employee, a student, a business owner, or a volunteer, goal setting can help you feel more enthusiastic and joyful about your day ahead.

Let’s dig deeper into God’s Word. Review and study 1 Peter 1:8-9 and Philippians 3:12.

What’s different about today?

“And he has filled him with the Spirit of God, with wisdom and skill, with intelligence and understanding, and with knowledge in all areas of craftsmanship, to devise artistic designs.” Exodus 35:31-32.

God is amazingly creative, and His Spirit dwells in you. You were created in His image, so that means you too are creative. We are creative beings. Have you ever been hesitant or afraid to try anything new?
Do you ever feel stuck in a rut because your days are filled with the same unenergetic routine? Well, there is something you need to realize about yourself. A great deal of creativity lies within you, and God wants to show you how to tap into that creativity. I think God enjoys variety. Why else would he have put so much of it in us? The old expression is true. Variety is the spice of life. As you pray about the day ahead of you, ask God what you can do that is new or different.

Sometimes even a slight deviation from sameness is refreshing. Always walk in wisdom, but don’t be afraid to step out in and try something new. God has filled you with creativity and originality. Be bold and do something you have never done before.

Today’s thought: Every new day is a brand-new opportunity. Look for something exciting, fun, and new to do today. Enjoy the life God has given you.

PASTORS SUNDAY MORNING NUGGET

That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power.
Ephesians 1:17–19

The Spirit of Wisdom

Proverbs 4:7, tells us that wisdom is the principal thing, then it behooves us to know and operate in the “spirit of wisdom.” But do you know what the “spirit of wisdom” is?
Look at the prayer (above) that the apostle Paul prayed over the church in Ephesus. The spirit of wisdom and revelation is in the knowledge of Jesus! The more you know Jesus and have a revelation of His unmerited favor in your life, the more you will have the spirit of wisdom.
I challenge you to pray this prayer for wisdom on a regular basis because when you increase in the knowledge of Jesus, He will surely lead you to good success in every aspect of your life.

Note that when Paul was praying this prayer for the believers in Ephesus, they were already filled with the Holy Spirit. But Paul still prayed that God would give them a spirit of wisdom and revelation in their knowledge of Jesus.
It is one thing to have the Holy Spirit inside you, but it is another thing to let the Holy Spirit inside you flow as the spirit of wisdom and revelation.
Church, as you pray to be led by the spirit of wisdom today, be confident that you will experience the Holy Spirit leading you in Jesus’ divine and unmatched wisdom. When the Holy Spirit leads you in the wisdom of Jesus, there will be no impossible situation, no insolvable problem, and no insurmountable crisis. The wisdom of Jesus in you will help you to successfully navigate all your trials and cause you to prevail over all your challenges!

Let prayer lead the way. “

“A man’s mind plans his way as he journeys through life, but the Lord directs his steps and establishes them.” Proverbs 16:9. Many times we make our plans according to what we want to see take place, instead of even considering what God might want. This is why the most basic step of faith we can take regarding our situation in life is saying, “Lord, this is what I would like to see happen, but may your will be done and not mine.” Prayer should precede every important decision that we make.

This is another reason why daily time with the Lord is so important. Our presumptions and assumptions can lead us in the wrong direction. Don’t make the mistake of planning and then praying that God will make your plan work. Pray first and let the Holy Spirit guide you into God’s great plan for your life. Today’s thought: the plan you have in mind for your life may look good, but the plan God has for you is better than you can imagine.

You’ll never be sorry when you seek His plan, His purpose, and His will for your life. Let’s dig deeper into God’s Word, study and review Matthew 18, verse 19, and Psalm 102, verse 17.

Continually content.
“Not that I speak from any personal need, for I have learned to be content and self-sufficient through Christ. Satisfied to the point where I am not disturbed or uneasy, regardless of my circumstances.” Philippians 4:11.
One of our goals as Christians should be to say with certainty, like Apostle Paul, “I have learned to be content regardless of my circumstances.” Paul goes on to say that he had learned how to be satisfied to the point where he was not disturbed, whether he had abundance or was in need.

That is the picture of Godly contentment. Being content does not mean that we never want to see any change or that we have no vision for better things. But it does mean that we are not allowing the things that we want and don’t have yet to steal the enjoyment of what we have at the present time. The more time we spend with God, focusing on his goodness and thanking him for his promises, the more content we will be with all that he has done and is going to do in our lives.

I want you to note that in the scripture today, Paul says that, “I have learned to be content and self-sufficient through Christ.” Not self-sufficient in his own works, his own deeds, his own thoughts, his own actions, but self-sufficient in what Christ has done.

Today’s thought. One of the most important things you can learn to do is to enjoy where you are on the way to where you are going. So let’s dig deeper into God’s Word and let’s study 1 Timothy 6:6-8 and review.
