"Operation Cupcake”
On May 26, our Rector Mother Joanna and our Wardens Chris & Karen, delivered 18 dozen cupcakes to the Clinton Central School District employees. The treats were in recognition of all that the school employees do for the children of our community. Special thanks to the Sunny Day Fund for making the treats possible. A variety of cupcakes, along with cards signed by parish members were delivered to each school building, the administration office and the bus garage. Over 200 employees were recognized for their care of our children.

Look again at Rowan LeCompte's great rose..
"Let there be light," shouts the hub of the great wheel. "In the beginning, God." Coals of fire; infinity of blue.
And like jewels around the rim, a multiplicity of forms gathered in the petaled tracery. Listen to the artist's list of what these forms might suggest to one who stood here in this garden of stone, looking up at the twinkling light. The Song of Birds at one o'clock, then move clockwise, Phases of the Moon, The Crystalline Order, Ebb and Flow, at the bottom, Ways Through the Wilderness, Seed Into Flower, Green Islands, Spiraling Galaxies, Branching Development, and right at the top, The Four Elements of earth and air, fire and water, all the wondrous marbles of God's making.

In 1905, at the age of 25, Perkins changed her given name of Fannie to Frances and left the Congregational Church of her forebears to join the The Episcopal Church 💒

Throughout her life, Frances Perkins relied on her religious faith and the guidance of her church for the support she needed to face the challenges of public service and her personal hardships.

Her faith profoundly shaped her moral vision and policymaking and sustained her lifelong commitment to advancing a social order grounded in safety, dignity, and decency for all 🤍

In 2009, the Episcopal Church formally recognized Frances Perkins as a saint and designated May 13th as her feast day, honoring her as a Public Servant and Prophetic Witness. To learn more and find resources about her faith, visit our website (🔗 in comments)

St Andrew's Episcopal Church in Newcastle, Maine was Frances Perkins’ summer parish and is the home of her icon by Suzanne Schleck, Iconographer (reproduced below)

We are thankful for this event.
In attendance from St. James' Episcopal Church, Clinton, were Jim, Deborah, Barbara, Karen, Kathy, Patricia, Rebecca and Mother Joanna. Another attendee asked "How did you get so many of your parish members to come." We remembered our long time vow to start on this journey, commended to others the The Land Is Not Our Own: Seeking Repair Alongside Indigenous Communities series from the Just Faith ministry which a group of us took part in as our Lenten series, and gave thanks for one of our parish member's ongoing research of Elijah Wampey, a Brothertown person buried in Clinton's Old Burying Ground.

“Each crane sent to us was a prayer, and at the vigil we were all praying together with everyone who folded paper cranes,”
- the Rev. Jo Ann Lagman, The Episcopal Church’s missioner for Asiamerica Ministries
Lagman noted that some Quakers who are part of an ecumenical Bible study group with Episcopalians in Pensacola, Florida, also made and shipped origami cranes ahead of the April 15-17 pilgrimage and retreat.

The idea to make origami cranes came from Tsuru for Solidarity, a nonviolent, direct-action campaign project of Japanese American social justice advocates. They are working to end immigration detention sites and support immigrant communities by advocating for fair immigration policies and other means. In Japanese culture, the crane, or “tsuru” in Japanese, symbolizes transformation, healing and nonviolence. The origami project aligned with this year’s theme, “Let it Not Happen Again.”
