Ryland Epworth United Methodist Church Ryland Epworth United Methodist Church is a Christ-centered church that seeks to develop disciples and foster fellowship. Ryland Epworth UMC is led by Rev.

Ryland Epworth UMC is the product of three congregations. The first, Ryland Church, started in 1843 in Southwest Washington. Ryland purchased land in Southeast in 1940 and erected the present neo-Gothic sanctuary in 1944. In 1973 Epworth Church, which was founded in 1882, merged with Ryland Epworth United Methodist Church. Four years later, when the 133-year-old Anacostia United Methodist closed,

many persons from the Anacostia Church joined the Ryland Epworth congregation. Currently, Ryland Epworth is located in the vibrant and diverse community of Hillcrest located in Southeast, Washington, D.C. It is a part of the McKendree-Simms-Brookland Cooperative Parish.
