Greetings Saint Augustine Family,

Today, as we celebrate Corpus Christi, the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ, we are reminded that Jesus is the supernatural nourishment we need to carry out the supernatural mission He has entrusted to us. We have all encountered people who are “all talk and no action.” God is Love in action, and we, the Body of Christ, are called to be and do the same.

In the Holy Eucharist, Jesus gives us everything He is and has; He holds nothing back. His love is real, tangible, and transformative. So is the Holy Eucharist.
At every Mass, Jesus says, “This is My Body, given up for you.”

What are you prepared to give up for Him?

We welcome you to join us for Mass celebrations on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. and Sunday at 8:00 a.m., 10:00 a.m., and 12:30 p.m. The 12:30 p.m. Mass will be live-streamed via our YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/. Daily Mass is held at 8:15 a.m. in the chapel from Tuesday through Thursday and the church on Friday.

We greatly appreciate your support of our parish’s mission. If you are able to contribute at this time, click link https://saintaugustine-dc.org/stewardship to sign up with ParishSOFT for automatic contributions, a one-time donation or text (202) 930-8147 to give. ParishSoft now accepts contributions using Google Pay and Apple Pay.

Click here https://tinyurl.com/StAugDC060726 to read this week’s bulletin with Father Pat’s Sermon Notes. He reminds us that Jesus is fully committed to us, and through faith we see His presence in the Eucharist and in others, calling us to move from involvement to committed love and service.

With grateful hearts, we congratulate Lydia Curtis, the second recipient of the Vincent Brooks Award. 💙🎉

A faithful witness to Christ’s call, Lydia has long served as a champion for justice and dignity for our unhoused neighbors through Team Hope. Her prayerful presence at marches, forums, and ministry reminds us that faith must be lived in love.

As co-chair of the African Diaspora Ministry, and as a Eucharistic and Homebound Minister, Lydia carries Christ to those near and far. May God bless her servant heart, strengthen her witness, and inspire us all to serve with courage, compassion, and hope. ✨🙏🏾

✨It’s our anniversary!!!✨

From its earliest days, Saint Augustine became known for excellence in Catholic education, the pursuit of justice, inspiring liturgy, magnificent music, and a prophetic voice on behalf of African American Catholics!

🔹Our story began in 1858 when a group of formally enslaved men and women, together with Black Catholics who had never been enslaved established a Catholic school and chapel under the patronage of Blessed Martin de Porres, the Peruvian saint renowned for his service to the poor and his witness to racial justice.

🔹Denied access to the nave and sanctuary of Saint Matthew's Church (now St. Matthew's Cathedral), these early Black Catholics worshiped in the church basement. They would later become the founding members of Saint Augustine Catholic Church, which was dedicated in 1876, just over a decade after the end of the Civil War.

🔹As we celebrate our 168th anniversary, let us honor those who came before us by renewing our commitment to Catholic education, vibrant worship, beautiful liturgy, and service to those most in need. Let us continue to be drum majors for justice, racial equality, and compassion for the least, the lost, and the left out.

✨And may we not cease until, in the words of the Prophet Amos, "justice rolls down like waters, and righteousness like a mighty stream" (Amos 5:24).

Greetings Saint Augustine Family🩵💙🧡

Today, as we celebrate the Feast of the Most Holy Trinity and the 168th anniversary of our parish, we give thanks for the remarkable legacy of Saint Augustine Catholic Church.

On this Trinity Sunday, Scripture reminds us that this God is merciful, gracious, and close. As He declares in Revelation 1:8: “I am the Alpha and the Omega — the one who is, who was, and who is to come, the Almighty.”

He is not a mystery to admire from a distance. He is a Love we are invited into.

We welcome you to join us for Mass celebrations on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. and Sunday at 8:00 a.m., 10:00 a.m., and 12:30 p.m. The 12:30 p.m. Mass will be live-streamed via our YouTube Channel at https://www.youtube.com/ . Daily Mass is held at 8:15 a.m. in the chapel from Tuesday through Thursday and in the church on Friday.

Greetings Saint Augustine Family! ❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥

Today, we celebrate the birthday of the Church; or more precisely, the inauguration of the Church’s response to Christ’s Great Commission to preach the Gospel to all nations, the Feast of Pentecost Sunday. This feast makes it crystal clear that God never sends His followers out on mission without first equipping them to do so successfully. But every gift must be received.

Knowing that there is no authentic Christian life without the presence and power of the Holy Spirit, the question before us today is this: Will you give the Holy Spirit greater access to your life? Only when we do will the mighty works of God become visible in the life and ministry of the Church and in each of her members.

We welcome you to join us for Mass celebrations on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. and Sunday at 8:00 a.m., 10:00 a.m., and 12:30 p.m. The 12:30 p.m. Mass will be live-streamed via our YouTube Channel https://www.youtube.com/.
