Mercy Road Community Church is here to share the love of Jesus Christ with the community of Oklahoma

“And we beseech you, brethren, to know them which labour among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you; And to esteem them very highly in love for their work's sake. And be at peace among yourselves.” 1 Thessalonians 5:12-13 KJV

Scripture gives the church a responsibility to recognize and esteem those who labor among us.

Not because Pastors are perfect.

Not because they have all the answers.

But because they have accepted a God-given responsibility to labor among God's people.

Honor the calling. Encourage the servant. Pray for the shepherd.

“I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.” - John 10:11 KJV

Jesus is the Good Shepherd.

Every earthly shepherd is ultimately called to follow His example.

The goal isn't to become the Shepherd.

The goal is to point people toward the Shepherd.

“Heaviness in the heart of man maketh it stoop: but a good word maketh it glad.” Proverbs 12:25 KJV

Your Pastor may be the person encouraging everyone else.

Today, be intentional about encouraging them.

Send a text. Make a phone call. Write a note. Give a hug. Tell them you're praying for them.

Sometimes a simple word of encouragement can make a bigger difference than you'll ever know.

“And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:” - Ephesians 4:11-12 KJV

God has given Pastors and Teachers to help equip His people, strengthen His church, and prepare believers for the work of ministry.

The calling isn't about elevating a person. It's about equipping the body.

Today we thank God for those who faithfully accept that responsibility.

“And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.” - Galatians 6:9 KJV

To every Pastor who has ever wondered whether the work was worth it... Keep going.

God sees the seed you're planting.

You may not see the harvest yet, but that doesn't mean God isn't working.

Be faithful. Keep serving. Keep preaching. Keep praying.

Don't grow weary in well doing.

“For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?” - 1 Timothy 3:5 KJV

Behind many Pastors is a family that shares in the calling.

They share their time. They share their loved one. They understand interrupted plans, late nights, phone calls, and ministry responsibilities.

Today we honor not only those who serve in ministry, but the families who faithfully stand beside them.

“Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.” - 1 Corinthians 15:58 KJV

There may be days when ministry feels unnoticed.

But God sees.

He sees every act of obedience. Every prayer. Every sermon. Every tear. Every sacrifice. Every life touched.

Your labor is not in vain in the Lord.
