“Wisdom”
Proverbs 9:10 says: "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.”
Fear- one definition of fear is profound reverence for something.
If we want to obtain wisdom, we must first learn how to reverence the Lord. We must have a deep sense of respect towards God.
If we don’t respect God, we can’t learn from him. If we take God for granted, we won’t learn anything.
Proverbs 4:5-8
5 Get wisdom, get understanding: forget it not; neither decline from the words of my mouth.
6 Forsake her not, and she shall preserve thee: love her, and she shall keep thee.
7 Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.
8 Exalt her, and she shall promote thee: she shall bring thee to honour, when thou dost embrace her.
In the verses above, Solomon teaches us if we possess wisdom, we can get understanding. Also, wisdom will preserve you.
Preserve means to keep safe from injury, harm, or destruction, to maintain a condition, or to prepare food (like fruit) to keep for future use.
In addition, exalt wisdom. Bring her to the forefront of your life, prioritize her and she will promote you. Wisdom will bring you into the presence of kings, CEOs and other people in high authority. Wisdom will lead you into offices/doors you never thought you would enter. The spirit of wisdom should promote us, not our flesh. (1 Corinthians 12:8)
Embrace wisdom. Hold her tight. Don’t let her go and she will bring you honor and not disgrace.
Bring her to your business meetings. Bring her to your relationships. Bring her to the job interview. Take her with you when you have to decide whether to marry or not. Take her with you when you have to decide whether to move or not. Bring her with you when you need to decide whether to buy that car or house right now.
Keep her close when you have to decide who to associate with.
Proverbs 13:20
20 He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed.
Wisdom, don’t leave home without her!
