Pleased to support Grace’s Eagle Scout Service Project bake sale fundraiser! Grace, a scout in Wantagh Troop 656, is raising money for her project, creating a seating area at Christ Lutheran Church, Wantagh, New York. Legislator Kayla L. Knight, Senator Steve Rhoads, Assemblyman Dave McDonough’s representative Shannon Fredericks and I stopped by to buy some homemade baked goods for a great cause.

If you’d like to support Grace’s project, she is still accepting donations via Venmo to (please include “Troop 656 Eagle Service Project” in the note) or by check payable to Troop 656 Eagle Service Project.

May he rest in peace and rise in glory.

With sadness we announce the death of Robert Alan Rimbo, former bishop of the Metropolitan New York Synod. Robert (Bob) Rimbo served the church in a variety of ways with an interest in worship practices and strengthening the liturgical life of our congregations and Synod. He served congregations in Michigan, New Jersey, and New York, was bishop of the Southeast Michigan Synod and the Metropolitan New York Synod, served as a chaplain, editor, advisor and coordinator for projects relating to worship and parish ministry.

Robert Rimbo was a published author of essays, sermons, books and was influential in the development of two Lutheran hymnals: Lutheran Book of Worship (1978) and Evangelical Lutheran Worship (2006). He was a regular presenter and speaker at the Institute of Liturgical Studies at Valparaiso University and served on several Lutheran organizational boards.

A memorial mass will take place on Sunday, March 22 at 2:00 pm at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Manhattan.

With sure and certain hope of the resurrection, we commend Robert to God’s everlasting care. Rest eternal grant Robert, O God, and may light + perpetual shine upon him.
