Who do you say that Jesus is?

In Matthew 16, Jesus asks His disciples a question that still challenges us today: “Who do you say that I am?”

Peter answers, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.”

But Jesus doesn’t stop there. He tells His followers that knowing who He is means following Him—taking up our cross, letting go of our own agendas, and choosing His way.

And what was Jesus’ way?

Again and again, Jesus moved toward people others pushed away. He welcomed the outsider, sat with the rejected, listened to those who were overlooked, and reminded people that every person has value in the eyes of God.

That makes welcoming others more than simply being polite or friendly. It is part of what it means to follow Jesus.

“Welcome to this place” isn’t just a song we sing, it’s a declaration that all our welcome.
