The "Old Highwater" Congregation was organzied November 27th, 1879, by the Rev. Xavier, who was then pastor at Franklin, Minnesota, and had recently been pastor at Springfield, Minnesota. He held services in the new congregation until 1882, after which Rev. Bernt Askevold
of Tracy served the congregation until it disbanded. Some of the members joined the newly formed Old Westbrook congregation, an

d some became Charter Members of St.Olaf Congregation. For parts of its life the "Old Highwater" congregation held services
in the home of Lars Swenson (father of Hannah Swenson), and later in the Old District #4 school house which
stood on the east side of Dutch Charlie Creek, on the Dennis Knutson farm. This building
was also used by the Old Westbrook Congregation while they were building their first church, and was later purchased
by E.E. Heggerston, who pulled it to his farm in Ann Township and made it into a house. The east part of the house on the Bob Heggerston farm is the "Old Highwater"
