History Of Rocky Branch Bethel Baptist Church

Rocky Branch Bethel Baptist Church first organized as Rocky Branch Union Sunday School in 1937. The Sunday School branched off from Rocky Branch Missionary Baptist Church due to a disagreement over literature used for Sunday School. The members who formed Rocky Branch Union Sunday School chose their name from the Sunday School literature in use

at that time, but the Sunday School and the worship services were not united as a church. Services for the Sunday School were held in the old Rocky Branch Elementary School until 1940, when the present church was built on property donated by Ed Burns. The Sunday School and worship services combined on July 29,1951 to form our present day church. With the combining of the two services, the word union was dropped from the Sunday School and the official name of our church became Rocky Branch Bethel Baptist Church. The church started with the auditorium only and expanded over the years to today's building. The church was bricked in 1968, and in 1975 the basement Sunday School rooms were completed. Rocky Branch Bethel Baptist Church Church's first pastor was the Rev. Over the years the church has had numerous pastors, they include Rev. Roy Everett, Rev. Lewis Whitehead, Rev. Tim Martin, Rev. Don Woody, Rev. John Paul Nichols,and Rev. Larry D. Teaster.

"Hi, my name is Sammie! I'm 17 years old and an aspiring hairstylist based in East Tennessee. I'm currently taking cosmetology classes in high school and have already completed over 200 hours of hands-on training. I'll be starting beauty school this February, and I'm so excited to continue growing my skills and pursuing my dream career."

Sam has stepped forward to use the talent God has given her to serve the community through Care Cuts by Sam! 🤍 We are offering FREE haircut appointments for caregivers and anyone going through a tough season.
