The Devil Made Me Do It: Get Behind Me Satan

04/29/2026

For all you Bible carriers out there who have heard that Mark was written about AD 70 and the rest of the Gospels later than that (so that supposedly gave enough time for myths to be invented). Have you ever wondered where 70AD comes from?

Well, it is because of the prediction of the destruction of the Temple. The thinking is, no man could have known that the Temple would be destroyed in 37 years or so. Therefore, Mark just put that prediction in to make Jesus look good. and the book was written in 70 at the earliest.

That's it. Nothing else.

Besides the fact that this whole dating exercise assumes Jesus is not capable of making this prediction, it misses some finer points of his statement.
The Temple was destroyed in late summer. Why would the fake insertion say "pray that you flight not be in winter" when everybody knew it had occurred in summer? Or that you not flee on a Sabbath? Or not to enter into the city? Why tell people not to go back to a city that was destroyed? (details from Luke added here)
You know why people think Mary Magdalene was a pr******te? (didn't see that one coming, did you?) Because Pope Gregory made that mistake in a sermon in 591. 1400 years later the Catholic Church corrected the error.

Doesn't matter. Ask most Bible carriers if she was a pr******te and the answer will be yes, because we've heard it so often.
Same thing with the dating issue. We've heard the earliest date for Mark is AD 70 that we simply go along with it when the fact is, the evidence is much more compelling for an earlier date for a simple reason. No Gospel mentions the destruction of the Temple, nor does Acts. Isn't that strange? But Acts does mention that a little-known Christian prophet named Agabus had foretold a worldwide famine and Acts 11:27-28 says that occurred in the days of Claudius.

Why mention this event (Claudius was emperor in the 40's) but not mention the destruction of the temple? You are getting the picture.
Rest easy and confident, fellow Bible carrier, when someone tells you the Gospels were written much later and by anonymous authors no less. We covered the anonymous stuff yesterday. And remember, Mary Magdalene wasn't a pr******te.

Carry that book with confidence.

For all you Bible carriers out there who hear from critics that the Gospels are anonymous, with the author's name attached much later by the Church to each book in an attempt to bolster their claims. Therefore, they are untrustworthy and lacking credibility and you took the bait.

That claim is a myth. Every, not most, every manuscript ever found has the name of the Gospel writer associated with it. No anonymous copies of Matthew, Mark, Luke, or John have ever been found. The anonymous Gospel claim is a theory in search of facts that do not exist.

It gets worse. IF the originals were anonymous and circulated for a 100 odd years as proposed, then that means four separate writings were copied and dispensed all over the ancient world and THEN, somehow, all the books were re-captured and the names added. That would be a miracle, if that could be pulled off, on the level of turning water into wine.

Carry that Book with confidence!

he will crush[b] your head,
and you will strike his heel.” (Gen 3)
Satan struck Jesus' heel,
BUT
Jesus will crush Satan's head
The final defeat of Satan hasn't happened yet. That is still to come in the new heaven and the new earth, the original paradise replaced by the new paradise. The death of Christ and his resurrection accomplished this. Who said one man can't change the world?
This year is particularly special. The day we celebrate the resurrection is also the same calendar date that the resurrection occurred! Nisan 16 (Jewish calendar) is April 5 on the modern calendar.
Eggs, bunnies, and chocolate are fun, but they aren't what we celebrate.
He is risen... He is risen indeed. That's what we celebrate.
