It’s been 40 Sundays since our church has been allowed to worship in Mustard Seed Creamery.
As local election season gets closer, we want to encourage people to pay attention to more than just names and campaign signs. Pay attention to decisions, honesty, character, and how leaders use the authority they’ve been given.
Today marks 281 days since August 10, 2025, the last time our church was allowed to worship in our restaurant.
We were directly told by elected city leadership that if our church continued worshiping there, our restaurant’s alcohol permit would be denied or not renewed.
Some people will say, “The city never told you that you couldn’t meet.” But when your business permit is made dependent on your church no longer being allowed to worship in a building you own, the result is exactly the same.
We believe what happened was wrong. We believe it violated both the letter and intent of the law, along with the religious freedoms protected by the U.S. and Louisiana Constitutions, and Louisiana law.
No business owner, church, or citizen should ever be put in that position by their local government.
This post is not about bitterness. It’s about accountability.
Local elections matter. Leadership matters. Integrity matters. And real people live with the consequences of these decisions long after campaign season ends.
As we’ve said from the beginning, we are still open to honest questions and respectful conversations.
