Wake Village COGOP

Wake Village COGOP Believing is not the end of the journey, it’s the beginning. Belonging is essential to the journey, not isolation. Becoming is the joy in the journey.

Do you really believe that what you believe is really, really, REAL? (Are you living like it?)
We are saved by grace through faith - nothing we can do can get us "saved". we are not ethical by faith, that is something you have to do something about.

Let’s get real for a minute about this “fruit of the Spirit” Paul describes (Gal. 5:22–24). It’s not a spiritual grocery list you pick from, choosing whichever virtue fits your mood or makes you look holy this week. It’s a unified harvest that only ripens when we stay deeply connected to the Vine.

When we stop striving in our own strength and start walking in step with the Spirit, love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control stop being heavy burdens and become the natural overflow of a surrendered heart. And Paul reminds us, “against such things there is no law.”

That’s grace in its purest form—God isn’t trying to trap you in a checklist; He’s giving you His own life so you can live it out freely. The law never produced a single piece of this fruit; only the Spirit could. So lay down the exhaustion of trying to manufacture holiness and simply abide in Him.

But we have to be honest about what that surrender costs us. Paul doesn’t let us off the hook when he says, “those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.” Crucifying the flesh isn’t about self-loathing or white-knuckling your way through sin; it’s a daily, deliberate turning away from everything that tries to dethrone Christ in your heart.

Every time you feel the pull of selfish ambition, hidden resentment, or the desperate need for control, that’s the flesh stirring—and you have a choice to starve it or feed it. We don’t fight _for_ victory; we fight _from_ it, because the cross already broke the flesh’s authority.

So today, stop negotiating with the cravings that drain your peace and start leaning into the Spirit’s quiet voice. You’re not meant to carry this battle alone; the same power that raised Jesus from the dead is living inside you, ready to produce a harvest that honors God and blesses everyone around you. Walk in that freedom.

Listen closely, family, because we will talk straight Sunday about what Paul says regarding how God set us free (Gal. 5:13). He didn't liberate you so you could do whatever you want with no consequences; he freed you specifically to serve one another through love.

Now, I know it's tempting in this life to think that freedom means "I can finally act like my old self" or that the rules don't matter anymore. But let me tell you something hard truth from Scripture: if you use your liberty as a cover-up for selfishness and start biting each other instead of building each other up, you've missed the whole point entirely! That is not the Spirit leading you; that is just flesh running wild, turning God's gift into a weapon against His family.

We have to stop looking at our brothers and sisters with an eye toward judgment because when we get busy tearing people down with gossip, criticism, and pride, we are literally devouring one another (Gal. 5:14-15). It hurts my heart to see what could be a vibrant community become a battlefield where everyone tries to win arguments rather than share grace.

The only thing that truly counts in this Kingdom isn't your ability to quote rules or defend yourself; it's faith working through love! So in this message Sunday, I will challenge you to take off the armor of offense and put on the garment of service.

Let go of the need to be right so badly that you hurt someone else, and instead ask God how He can use *your* freedom to make life better for the person sitting next to you. That is the kind of power that changes hearts and keeps us walking together in peace.
