⛪️ Parishioners on Pilgrimage | St. Benedict’s Painted Church

We visited the beautiful St. Benedict’s Painted Church in Hōnaunau on Hawaiʻi Island. Built in the late 1800s, the church is known for its incredible hand-painted interior created by Fr. John Velghe, who used the artwork to help teach the Catholic faith through images.

The photos truly don’t capture how beautiful and unique this little church is. If you’re ever in the South Kona area, it is definitely worth stopping by. 🙏🌺

✈️ Traveling soon? If you visit a church while you’re away, send us a photo and a little about your visit so we can continue our Parishioners on Pilgrimage series!

👀 DID YOU NOTICE?

Some improvements are already underway at St. Ann! ⛪️🔨

Thanks to the generous support of our parishioners and community, funds raised through our efforts are being put back into caring for and improving our church.

Recently completed:
✨ New urinal with sensor flush
✨ New bell tower door and hardware

These may seem like small changes, but together they are part of the continued work to maintain and improve the place generations of our parish ʻohana call home.

And we’re just getting started! Stay tuned for more “Did You Notice?” updates as we highlight the repairs and improvements happening around St. Ann

Happy Priesthood Sunday, Father Jun! 🙏💙

Today, our keiki shared a special message of love and appreciation for Father Jun. We are so grateful for his faith, leadership, and continued dedication to our St. Ann ʻohana.

We also want to recognize the impact of Father Jun’s leadership in spearheading our St. Ann Golf Tournament. What began as an initiative to bring our community together has helped make much-needed repairs and improvements throughout our church possible.

“Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labor in vain.” — Psalm 127:1

There is still more to come! 🛠️⛪️🌺 Stay tuned as we begin sharing updates on the renovations, repairs, and improvements happening throughout St. Ann.

Mahalo, Father Jun, for helping care for not only our church, but the community and generations of parishioners who call St. Ann home. 💙🙏

Parishioners on Pilgrimage ⛪️

Our St. Ann ʻohana is on the move! This week, our parishioners visited St. Augustine by the Sea Catholic Church in Waikīkī, Oʻahu and shared these beautiful photos with us.

Whether near or far, our travels give us the opportunity to experience the beauty of the Catholic Church in different communities while remaining connected through one faith.

✈️ Traveling soon? Send us a photo from a Catholic church you visit, along with the church name and location, to be featured in our Parishioners on Pilgrimage series!

Where will our St. Ann ʻohana visit next? 🌎⛪️

Forgive, not just seven times, but seventy-seven times. 🤍

Today’s message reminds us that forgiveness is not always easy, but Christ calls us to choose grace, mercy, and love—even when it’s difficult.

May we carry that message with us throughout the week, extending to others the same mercy God continually extends to us. 🙏

“I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times.” — Matthew 18:22

From our ʻohana at St. Ann Church, Waiheʻe, Maui, have a blessed Sunday and week ahead. 🌺✝️
